    Abstract: A first relay server transmits, to an access management apparatus that manages an access right to a second relay server, an access request with respect to the second relay server. The access management apparatus confirms that the access right to the second relay server is set in the first relay server, and then requests the second relay server to permit an access by the first relay server. In a case where the second relay server permits the access from the first relay server, the access management apparatus notifies the first relay server of such access permission. Based on the notice from the access management apparatus, the first relay server establishes a routing session with the second relay server. By using the routing session, the first relay server starts the communication with a general server that serves as a maintenance target.

    Abstract: A relay device requests a status notification of another relay device to a server device. When the relay device is notified that the other relay device is under a logged-out status, the relay device stands by. When the relay device is notified that the other relay device has logged in, the relay device transmits a connection request to the server device. The server device relays the connection request to the other relay device. A response is transmitted from the other relay device to the server device, and further relayed to the relay device. Accordingly, a TCP connection is established between the relay device and the other relay device. A communication device connected to a different network can transmit and receive data to and from the relay device via the other relay device.

The first and second relay servers establish a routing session via a WAN. The updated shared resource information is shared with other client terminals via the relay server. When the client terminal detects the update, the client terminal transmits a resource transfer request to the client terminal via the relay server. When data of the resource is received via the relay server, the client terminal stores the resource in a specified transfer destination folder.

In such a state, when the first user inputs an account of a second user as a destination into the transmitting device, the transmitting device inquires the server of a registration status of the second user. The server checks the registration status of the account of the second user. When the account of the second user is registered on any facsimile machine (receiving device), the server notifies the transmitting device that the account of the second user is registered on the receiving device. Then, the transmitting device transmits a connection demand to the receiving device to transmit data of the document.

The device makes a dial-up connection to establish a PPP session, and establishes a TCP connection with the relay device. By using this TCP connection, the communication terminal transmits an inspection instruction file to the device. The device conducts an inspection in accordance with the inspection instruction file, prepares an inspection result file, and returns it to the communication terminal. Then, the device disconnects the TCP connection, the PPP session, and the dial-up line network.
