  • Patent number: 7243128
Abstract: To provide a communication device which can obtain information necessary at a transmitter without placing a burden on a receiver. The control unit prepares an original document by being scanned by the scanning unit, received by the facsimile communication unit, or received by the network communication unit. By comparing a condition for the above operations and a condition set in the distribution table within the storage unit, it can be determined whether or not there is a destination or a reply document, and the reply document can be specified. When including the reply document in an electronic mail, the electronic mail is formed by including the original document and the specified reply document, and the formed electronic mail is transmitted to the destination from the network communication unit. The reply document can include an indication for handling and processing the document, or an input column for the information necessary at the transmitter.

  • Patent number: 7242496
Abstract: A facsimile machine provides file specifying information of a transmission file to an agent software. The agent software runs an appropriate application program in accordance with the file specifying information. By using this function, a prescribed file on a data conversion device is converted directly into an image content via a network from the facsimile machine. Accordingly, a facsimile transmission of the image content to a prescribed destination can be carried out just by an operation from the facsimile machine. As a result, an efficiency of a facsimile transmission process is improved.

  • Patent number: 7206088
Abstract: A communication system capable of carrying out communication between terminals within different local systems via a plurality of relay servers. The first terminal is connected to the relay server, and the communication with the first relay server is made practicable. In the same manner, the second terminal is connected to the second relay server, and the communication with the second relay server is made practicable. When a connection demand with the second terminal is transmitted to the first relay server from the first terminal, the first relay server forwards the connection demand to the second relay server, and the second relay server notifies the connection demand to the second terminal, and the communication between the terminals is made practicable. Then, when the data is transmitted from the first terminal to the second terminal, the data is forwarded to the second terminal through the first and second relay servers.

  • Publication number: 20070041530
Abstract: A communication device and a communication method capable of transmitting data after confirming a destination device in one SMTP communication. A transmitter communication device carries out a communication request to a recipient communication device and SMTP communication is started. The recipient communication device transmits information of a recipient stored in a storage unit to the transmitter communication device under a prescribed procedure. Before receiving the data, the recipient communication device suspends the communication protocol with a communication channel maintained. The transmitter communication device displays the received information of the recipient on a display unit, and suspends the communication protocol with the communication channel maintained. Accordingly, a user can confirm a transmission destination from the display. After confirming the transmission destination, the user instructs to transmit the data.

  • Patent number: 7180637
Abstract: Methods of operating facsimile machines are provided in which a priority table is stored that specifies printing priorities for different types of designated information. A message along with associated image data and first designated information and other messages having other associated image data and other designated information are received. The first designated information and other designated information are then detected. Printing of the associated image data is then controlled based on relative priority of the first designated information with respect to other designated information that have been detected. In one possible implementation, facsimile machines are provided that can include, for example, a receiving unit and control unit. When a first printing job is being executed that includes image data to be printed, the receiving unit receives a communication message having second printing job associated therewith. The second printing job includes other image data.

  • Patent number: 7167981
Abstract: A method of transmitting email and a device for transmitting email capable of broadcasting the email including encrypted data effectively. When a personal computer PC1 accepts an instruction to transmit same data to multiple destinations by email, the PC1 generates a session key (S105) and encrypts the data by utilizing the generated session key (S106). Next, the PC1 generates the common key by utilizing a public key generated based on an email address of each destination and the secret key acquired from a center in advance (S107), and encrypts the session key by utilizing the generated common key (S108). The PC1 transmits the email including the encrypted data and the encrypted session key to each destination (S110).

  • Publication number: 20060259762
Abstract: An e-mail server device includes a certificate storage unit, an SMTP reception unit, a signature unit, an SMTP transmission unit, a validity determination unit and an update request e-mail generating unit. The certificate storage unit stores a certificate for each account. The SMTP reception unit receives e-mail. The signature unit assigns a digital signature to the e-mail received by the SMTP reception unit by using a certificate of an account of a transmitter. The SMTP transmission unit transfers the e-mail assigned with the digital signature. The validity determination unit determines whether or not the certificate stored in the certificate storage unit is necessary to be updated. When the validity determination unit determines that the certificate is necessary to be updated, the update request e-mail generating unit transmits update request e-mail to the account for requesting an update of the certificate.

  • Patent number: 7116435
Abstract: A facsimile device for transmitting image data, using a computer communication network such as the Internet. A transmitting side facsimile device FAX1a determines whether the Internet NTW or the public switched telephone network PSTN is used, by confirming whether information showing to use NTW is attached to the facsimile number of the destination facsimile device FAX2. If NTW is used, image data is transmitted to the gateway device GTW1 and the facsimile number of FAX2. Users can easily select a requested communication network. FAX1a discriminates the beginning number attached in the beginning of the destination number input by users and confirms whether the internal network K, PSTN or NTW is used in sending image data. If NTW is used, the IP address of the nearest gateway device GTW in FAX2 is acquired and image data and the destination number is transmitted by designating the IP address as a destination.

  • Publication number: 20060212711
Abstract: A time stamp range designating unit is provided in a communication device, such as, for example, an Internet facsimile machine. A range for acquiring time stamp data is designated for an electronic file, and acquired time stamp data and the electronic file are associated by using an ID. The electronic file is transmitted to a remote device. After the electronic file has been edited by the remote device and returned, the time stamp data is acquired from the ID and a verification of the electronic file is carried out to detect whether or not the electronic file has been falsified.

  • Publication number: 20060192994
Abstract: A communication apparatus and method. Identification information statically allocated to a remote communication apparatus is designated. A domain name of the remote communication apparatus is presented to acquire an IP address by using a DNS service. A connection is made to a remote communication apparatus, to which the IP address acquired is allocated, to receive a response message. Information included in a predetermined section of the response message and all or a predetermined part of identification information designated are compared. When all or the predetermined part of the identification information coincides with the information included in the predetermined section of the response message, substantive data is transmitted to the remote communication apparatus connected.

  • Publication number: 20060184676
Abstract: Even when an SIP server imposes a restriction on a description content of an SDP, an image communication device can freely define a content of a media session with another end without receiving the restriction. Even when the image communication device is connected to a carrier network set for a purpose of only a usage of voice communication, the image communication device can carry out communication of image data or transmission of a character string. An image communication device establishes a media session by exchanging a message of a call control protocol with a communication device of another end and transmits image data. The image communication device describes information relating to the media session to be requested to the communication device of the other end or a character string to be transmitted to the communication device of the other end in a field not interfered by a call control server.
