  • Patent number: 5444573
Abstract: An apochromatic microscope objective of high NA wherein variation of aberrations, including chromatic aberration, caused by a change in the cover glass thickness, is minimized with a relatively simple arrangement. The microscope objective has a 1-st lens unit (G.sub.1) which includes a positive meniscus lens having a concave surface directed toward the object side to convert a bundle of rays from an object into a convergent bundle of rays, a 2-nd lens unit (G.sub.2) having a negative refractive power, and a 3-rd lens unit (G.sub.3) having a small refractive power. The 2-nd lens unit (G.sub.2) is movable relative to the 1-st and 3-rd lens units (G.sub.1 and G.sub.3) along the optical axis in accordance with a change in thickness of a transparent plane-parallel plate disposed between the 1-st lens unit (G.sub.1) and the object. The microscope objective satisfies conditions concerning the curvature radius of a lens surface in the 1-st lens unit (G.sub.

  • Patent number: 5134850
Abstract: An internal combustion engine having a valve overlapping period control device for controlling a valve overlapping period during which both the intake valve and the exhaust valve are open, and an equivalent length adjustment device for controlling an equivalent length of an exhaust passage necessary to cause an exhaust gas pulsation to return to an exhaust port in the form of a vacuum during the valve overlapping period, to thereby reduce the equivalent length as an engine speed increases when the valve overlapping period is longer than a predetermined period, and for stopping a control of the equivalent length when the valve overlapping period is shorter than the predetermined period.

  • Patent number: 5076676
Abstract: An objective lens system for microscopes comprising, in the order from the object side, a first lens unit which has a positive refractive power, comprises a positive meniscus lens component having a convex surface on the image side and allows a diverging light bundle to emerge therefrom, a second lens unit which has a positive refractive power, comprises at least one cemented surface having a negative refractive power and is movable along the optical axis, and a third lens unit having a negative refractive power, and adapted so as to favorably correct aberrations by moving the second lens unit in conjunction with thickness of a transparent plane parallel plate arranged between the first lens unit and an object to be observed through the objective lens system. This objective lens system has a high magnification, a large NA and a long working distance.
