  • Patent number: 6157779
Abstract: To provide an image shake correcting optical apparatus using a small, lightweight engaging mechanism for the correction lens holder engaging mechanism. A ring-shaped engaging member 16 formed of shape memory alloy and having three engaging arms on its inside is located outside a lens holder 11 for a correction lens L3, and the engaging contacts 16b at the tips of the engaging arms 16a are pushed toward the center of the ring-shaped engaging member by means of coil springs 17. The engaging member 16 formed of shape memory alloy has a prescribed memorized shape so that the arms 16a will assume a retracted position, and where no heat is applied, the engaging contacts 16b of the engaging arms press onto the lens holder 11 for the correction lens L3 from the outside due to the spring force of the coil springs 17, and engages with and maintains in place the lens holder 11. Where heat is applied, the engaging arms 16a retract, whereupon the engagement of the lens holder 11 is terminated.

  • Patent number: 5991553
Abstract: In a ring-shaped resilient member, a multiplicity of protrusions inwardly extending from the inner radius are arranged substantially isometrically about the center. When a fork is rotating leftward, the protrusions extending from the resilient member fixed to the inner wall of a housing are bent in the rotation direction of the fork, so that the load imposed on the fork by the protrusions as a frictional force is light. When the rotation direction of the fork is reversed from the leftward direction to the rightward direction, the direction in which the protrusions are swung is also reversed, so that a load is imposed at this time to prevent reversal of rotation of the cartridge spool.

  • Patent number: 5667857
Abstract: The present invention provides a molding sheet material having a sandwich structure produced by preparing a fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin layer (A) reinforced with a woven fabric or a knitted web and a fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin layer (B) reinforced with a random mat and using the layer (A) as a core layer and the layer (B) as a skin layer, or using the layer (B) as a core layer and the layer (A) as a skin layer. When this sheet material is molded into a three-dimensional structure, the layer (B) serves as a cushion to prevent the occurrence of a wrinkle or a crease in the layer (A). A toe puff for a safety shoe having a light weight and excellent pressing resistance can be prepared through the molding of this sheet material. In the sheet materials, the core layer or the skin layer consisting of a thermoplastic resin reinforced with a woven fabric or a knitted web of a reinforcing fiber may be prepared from a woven fabric or a knitted web of a reinforcing fiber alone.

  • Patent number: 5648027
Abstract: A slurry containing a precursor fiber convertible to carbon fiber and/or a carbon fiber and, based on 100 parts by weight of the fiber, 10 to 300 parts by weight of a thermosetting resin, e.g. phenol resin, is processed into a random web. This web may contain a pitch or an organic granular material. The web is hot-pressed between a pair of belts while curing of the resin is inhibited to prepare a prepreg sheet. This sheet is disposed, leaving a clearance, in a mold having ribs on a molding surface and heated over the melting point of the resin for expansion and complete cure to provide a porous composite sheet equipped with grooves. This porous composite sheet is carbonized or graphitized to produce a porous carbonaceous material for use as a fuel cell electrode material and so on. This porous carbonaceous material has high homogeneity, gas permeability, electrical conductivity, heat conductivity and mechanical strength.

  • Patent number: 5621218
Abstract: While relatively transporting a wire to be inspected and a unit including a first light source for emitting a first beam, a second light source for emitting a second beam which intersects with said first beam at a predetermined reference position, and a photodetector for detecting reflection light of said first and second beams derived from said first and second light sources respectively, a relative position between said unit and said wire is detected as a first position when said first beam is reflected from said wire. Then, while relatively moving said unit and said wire, another relative position between said unit and said wire is detected as a second position when said second beam is reflected from said wire. Then, a height of said wire from said reference position is calculated based on an interval between said first and second positions.
