  • Patent number: 6807292
Abstract: A plurality of viewpoints are set in a blood vessel included in an original image obtained in such a way that a plurality of CT images are stacked. The viewpoints are manually or automatically set along the blood vessel in the central projection method. Next, a curved surface including the viewpoints (composed of straight lines intersecting the viewpoints) is set. Then, the original image is cut along the curved surface to construct a sectional image of the original image including a sectional image of the blood vessel, and the constructed sectional image is displayed. The displayed sectional image is a longitudinal sectional image of the blood vessel. Therefore, a longitudinal sectional image of an object such as a blood vessel and an intestine cut along a curved surface along the object can be easily constructed.

  • Publication number: 20040165766
Abstract: The virtual three-dimensional image of an observed object is formed by arranging a plurality of sectional images and projected from a viewpoint fixed to a predetermined position onto a projection plane which is fixed to a predetermined position to form and display a perspective image. The pixel value on the sectional image which is transversed by a projection line extending from the viewpoint to the projection plane are read and, if the read value coincides with one of a plurality of predetermined values, pixel data are recorded in a pixel recording region corresponding to that value in pixel value memories. While the projection line scans the pixels one by one on the projection plane, for each coming scanned pixel the pixel data are recorded. After all the data are recorded, the pixel data recorded in the pixel value memories are read out and the data are displayed on a display as a perspective image.

  • Publication number: 20040075658
Abstract: A three-dimensional image display apparatus emphasizes display of a particular portion using the volume rendering method, where a volume image constructed by aligning a plurality of tomograms is shaded and projected on a predetermined projection plane to produce a 3D image. A volume rendering method is used where, in an algorithm for shading, virtual light beams are radiated from a virtual light source set outside the volume image, and pixel values on the projection plane are calculated based on reflectivity and density gradient of light beams at the respective pixels on the projection plane. At a luminescence ratio allocating area, a luminescence ratio is allocated for amplifying light beams entering pixels representing a particular object to be emphasized. The thus-allocated luminescence ratio is added as a parameter of the shading calculation in the volume rendering method and is used for calculation of pixel values on the projection plane.

  • Publication number: 20030179915
Abstract: An image diagnosis supporting device by which shadows of different sizes and shapes can be processed integrally with less computer calculation when focus candidates are automatically detected from a medical image. A medical image is converted to a multi-valued image by a digitizing means. The coordinates of the center of a shadow are determined according to the multi-valued image. With reference to the center coordinates, the medical image and the multi-valued image are subjected to various image-processings so as to detect portions considered as focus candidates.

Abstract: With respect to a stacked three-dimensional image, a point of view and a first projection plane are set, a central projection image is obtained according to a central projection method, and this image is shaded to obtain a first pseudo-three-dimensional image as if the image was observed under an endoscope. Then, a second projection plane is set with a positional relation so as to be perpendicular to the first projection plane and a second pseudo-three-dimensional image is obtained by projecting the same stacked three-dimensional image according to a parallel projection method and performing shading. An updated position of a new view point is obtained by using the second pseudo-three-dimensional image.
