  • Patent number: 4925717
Abstract: A disk-like recording medium is provided with recording tracks (TK), each of which includes recording sectors (SC.sub.1, SC.sub.2, . . . , SC.sub.m). Each of the recording sectors includes a recording region (AR.sub.C) for control and a subsequent region (AR.sub.D) for writing data. The invention further deals with a disk apparatus using the disk-like recording medium. In the recording region (AR.sub.C) for control of the disk-like recording medium are provided a clock data pit (Q.sub.B), a pair of tracking data bit (Q.sub.A, Q.sub.C) positioned inside and outside a track center line (K.sub.C) being separated at a predetermined distance from the clock data pit (Q.sub.B), and a pair of traverse data pits (Q.sub.D,Q.sub.E) being separated from each other at a distance allotted depending upon the recording tracks (TK). In recording or reproducing the data using a light beam, the clocks are reliably reproduced under a stable tracking condition, and traverses can be counted.

  • Patent number: 4907215
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for optically recording data in data areas of a disk-like recording medium in which servo signal areas are formed along the track in alternation with data areas. Parity codes for error correction are generated and affixed in at least one direction, that is, in the column or row direction, of a two-dimensionally arrayed data block, and the two-dimensionally arrayed data affixed with the parity codes are supplied sequentially to an optical pickup along any one of the column and row directions so as to be recorded in respective ones of said data areas.

  • Patent number: 4660189
Abstract: This invention relates to an optical disk recording and reproducing apparatus for recording a predetermined signal on and/or reproducing the same from a writable disk which is rotated at a constant linear velocity by using a laser from a laser source. In this case, upon reproducing the above-described signal, if a signal recorded on the inner periphery of the disk is accessed, during the period from this addressing up to the time when the linear velocity at the inner periphery of the disk becomes constant, on the basis of a spindle lock signal, the beam power of the laser from the laser source and irradiating the disk is decreased to thereby prevent useless data from being rewritten on the disk.

  • Patent number: 4639907
Abstract: A magneto-optical apparatus records, reads and erases information by radiating a laser beam on a magneto-optical medium which uses an amorphous material for a recording layer and which is subjected to information writing and erasure, wherein a predetermined DC signal is added to a focus error signal in the erasure mode, and the laser beam irradiates the magneto-optical medium in a defocused state.

  • Patent number: 4455579
Abstract: Apparatus for producing a color picture on recording paper in response to a color video signal includes a cylindrical platen having the recording paper circumferentially embraced about at least a portion thereof; a multi-color tape of the thermal transfer type having black, cyan, magenta and yellow colored pigments arranged in lengthwise strips on the tape; a head transfer carriage adapted for movement along the platen in the lengthwise direction thereof; black, cyan, magenta and yellow head groups associated with the black, cyan, magenta and yellow colored pigment strips of the tape and mounted on the head transfer carriage in close proximity to the surface of the platen so that the tape is situated between the head groups and the recording paper, each head group including eight heads for transferring the color of the respective pigment strip with which it is associated to the recording paper; and a control device for controlling movement of the head transfer carriage and head groups in the lengthwise direct

  • Patent number: 4420268
Abstract: A thermal printing apparatus includes a platen about which a sheet of paper is circumferentially embraced; a head transfer carriage mounted on guide rails of the apparatus for slidable movement in the lengthwise direction of the platen; a thermal head assembly mounted only on one guide rail so as to move with the head transfer carriage in the lengthwise direction of the platen while also being adapted to pivot about the guide rail toward and away from the platen, such that a tape from a tape cartridge is positioned between the thermal head assembly and the paper so that as the thermal head assembly moves along the platen, it selectively heats the tape in response to an information signal to transfer the pigment from the tape onto the paper and thereby record visual information on the paper; a tape clamp device including a lever pivotally mounted to the apparatus, an elastic plate fixedly mounted to the apparatus, and a spring which biases the lever toward the elastic plate to clamp the tape therebetween durin

  • Patent number: 4349767
Abstract: An electron gun used in a cathode ray tube, for example, color television picture tube, is disclosed. The electron gun has a plurality of electrodes aligned in one direction along an axis of a neck portion of the cathode ray tube. Each of the electrodes is supplied with a suitable potential for focusing and accelerating an electron beam derived by a cathode. A resistance element which comprises a ceramic substrate coated with a layer of resistive material is provided along and adjacent to the electrodes in the cathode ray tube. One end of the resistance element is electrically connected to the anode potential, and another end is connected to a stem lead pin which is at a substantially low enough potential to avoid mutual electric discharge between stem lead pins. Suitable potential for the selective electrodes is derived from intermediate taps of the resistor and electrode material are composed of a mixture of RuO.sub.2 and glass frit.
