  • Publication number: 20080266528
Abstract: A projection lens unit and a projection mirror unit are moved relative to an illumination optical system, between a first position where an image is projected in a shape that is longer along a direction of projection onto a projection plane and a second position where an image is projected in a shape that is longer along a direction perpendicular to the direction of projection onto the projection plane. When the projection lens unit and the projection mirror unit are located in the first position, a vertically long image is projected onto the projection plane (portrait display). In this state, when the projection lens unit and the projection mirror unit are moved to the second position, a horizontally long image is projected onto the projection plane (landscape display).

  • Patent number: 7210790
Abstract: An ion wind generator (20) is arranged on one side of a light source (1). The ion wind generator (20) produces an air current by negatively ionizing air by corona discharges at a needle electrode (21), or negative side, and drawing the negatively-ionized air at a cylindrical electrode (22), or positive side. The air current blows toward the light source (1) and removes heat generated by the light source (1). An ultraviolet ray from the light source (1) is introduced to a vent of the ion wind generator (20) by a first dichroic mirror (4) and a ultraviolet ray reflection mirror (17). Though air exhausted from the vent includes ozone (o3) produced by corona discharges, the ozone is decomposed by the ultraviolet ray.

  • Publication number: 20060232750
Abstract: There are provided an optical member, an illuminating device, and a projection type video display apparatus, capable of satisfying both or at least one of the following two functions. That is, one is to prevent light re-incident upon a reflective polarizer from becoming linearly polarized light having an undesirable polarization direction. The other is to improve exploiting efficiency of returned light. A reflection member and a ΒΌ? plate are disposed on the light entrance surface side of a rod integrator, and a reflective polarizer is disposed on the light exit surface side thereof. The reflection member is formed with a light transmission-use aperture, and an LED chip of the LED is positioned in the light transmission-use aperture. A mirror is formed at the rear surface of the LED chip, thereby eliminating occurrence of light leakage from the light transmission-use aperture.

  • Publication number: 20060023172
Abstract: An illuminating device comprises a first light source in which LED chips are arranged in an array shape and a second light source in which LED chips are arranged in an array shape. The two light sources of each illuminating device are arranged such that the main light-emission optical axes of the light sources are perpendicular to each other. Moreover, a time-division switching mirror is provided at a crossing position between the main light-emission optical axes. The first light source and the second light source alternately emit pulses of light. The pulsed emission is a method of supplying a large amount of electric currents to the LED chips in a short time period, and a light-emitting amount increases compared to a steady-state emission of the LED chips. The time-division switching mirror becomes a transmitting state when the first light source is lighted, and becomes a reflecting state when the second light source is lighted.
