  • Patent number: 7175797
Abstract: The core mold in the molding device (51) for forming the molded member (4) of the weather strip (1) is provided with a center core (61) having a center core body (63), and a side core (62) having a pair of side core bodies (66L, 66R). The base bottom portion (21) of the molded member (4) is made so that a center slit (33) having substantially an H-shape, a pair of slide slits (32L, 32R), and slit-less bridge portion (34). In order to open the molds, the side core (62) is slid, and the center core body (63) is thereby separated from the side core bodies (66L, 66R). The center core body (63) is thereby withdrawn from the weather strip (1), and the side core bodies (66L, 66R) thereafter are withdrawn.

  • Publication number: 20060073727
Abstract: A weather strip includes extruded parts and a molded part. In the molded part which corresponds to an upper corner part, a slit is formed in a base portion thereof for ease of the removal of a core mold. The slit is provided with a first slit and a second slit, and an integral bride portion is provided between those slits. The second slit is formed so as to extend through an inner corner portion. The existence of the bridge portion obviates the necessity of bonding and this obviates further the necessity of making allowance for an extent of deformation associated with the closure of the slit portion. In addition, the implementation of removal work of the core mold can be facilitated.

  • Publication number: 20060026903
Abstract: A glass run is provided with extruded portions and a molded portion. The extruded portions and molded portion each have an extension portion provided in the base portion so as to extend and contract in a direction toward the inside and outside of a vehicle. The extension portion is provided at a position which deviates from a position of the base portion which constitutes a section defined as extending from a position which intersects with an extension along an interior side of the door window glass to a position which intersects with an extension along an exterior side of the door window glass and to which an end face of the door window glass is opposed.

  • Publication number: 20050208232
Abstract: A weather strip includes an extruded portion and a molded portion. The molded portion is formed integrally with the end of the extruded portion. A method of manufacturing the weather strip includes removing at least one part of the end of a tubular seal portion of the extruded portion to form a thin wall portion, setting the end of the extruded portion and a core in a mold apparatus, and closing a movable mold of the mold apparatus in order to define a cavity. The cavity includes space corresponding to the removed part of the extruded portion. Further, the method includes filling a rubber-like material into the cavity to form the molded portion.

  • Patent number: 6936320
Abstract: A weather strip has a molded section and extruded sections. A seal part of the molded section is connected to an end face of a hollow seal part of the extruded section. Concave cutout portions, which serve as a deformation facilitating portion or a stress absorbing portion, are respectively formed in regions of the seal part, each of which is located in the vicinity of a connection surface between the seal part and a corresponding one of the extruded sections. The molded section is made of TPO instead of a rubber material. Although stress acting in the direction of extension of the weather strip may be applied, the presence of the concave cutout portions limits the concentration of stress on the connection surface.

  • Publication number: 20050140054
Abstract: A molding device for molding a molded portion of a weather strip has a lower mold, an upper mold, a first sliding mold, a second sliding mold, and a core mold. The core mold has a core body and a core holding portion. The core body comprises a molding part, and insertion parts, into which end parts of an extrusion portion are respectively inserted. The core holding portion extends from only a one-side part of the core body. Cutout portions are formed in parts in which the core holding portion is not present. Convex portions of the second sliding mold are fitted thereinto in what is called a zero-abutment state. Upon completion of molding, the second sliding mold is slid to thereby cause a molded portion to perform relative movement with respect to the core mold. Consequently, the core body can extremely easily be removed from the molded portion.

  • Publication number: 20040250474
Abstract: When a molded portion of a weather strip is molded, a slit, from which a core body is taken out, is formed in a mounting base portion thereof. Also, plural blocking clips are provided at predetermined intervals along the slit. The blocking clips comprises a base portion, which constitutes a part of the mounting base portion, a fitting portion fitted into the slit, a lock portion locked on an inner surface of the mounting base portion, and an engaging projection formed in such a way as to project from the base portion. A fitting groove, into which the engaging projection is fitted, is formed in the mounting base portion. After a core body is taken out of a molded portion precursor, the blocking clip is attached thereto, so that the molded portion is obtained.

Abstract: When a molded portion of a weather strip is molded, a slit, from which a core body is taken out, is formed in a mounting base portion thereof. Also, plural blocking pieces are provided at predetermined intervals along the slit. Each of the blocking pieces has a base piece portion formed in such a way as to extend from a mounting-face side of the mounting base portion, and also has an insertion portion, which is integrally formed with the base piece portion, and a lock portion to be locked on an inner surface of the mounting base portion. After the core body is taken out of a molded portion precursor, the base piece portion of each of the blocking pieces is bent around a part thereof continuously connected to the mounting base portion, so that the insertion portion is fitted into the slit, and that the lock portion is locked on the inner surface of the molded portion precursor, which faces a hollow portion. Thus, the molded portion is obtained.

  • Publication number: 20030157298
Abstract: A weather strip has a molded section and extruded sections. A seal part of the molded section is provided by being connected to an end face of a hollow seal part of the extruded section. Concave cutout portions as a deformation facilitating portion or a stress absorbing portion are respectively formed in regions of the seal part, each of which is located in the vicinity of a connection surface between the seal part and a corresponding one of the extruded sections. The molded section is made of TPO instead of a rubber material. Although stress acting in the direction of extension of the weather strip may be applied thereto, the presence of the concave cutout portions suppresses an occurrence of a situation in which the deformation of the weather strip is relatively liable to occur and in which the stress applied in the direction of extension thereof is concentrated on the connection surface.

  • Publication number: 20020001696
Abstract: A glass run has extrusion portions and a molded portion. The extrusion portions and the molded portion are provided with a body portion and seal lips. The body portion to be fitted to a sash is constituted by a bottom wall and a pair of side walls so as to have a substantially U-shape in section. The extrusion portions are molded so that the pair of side walls and corresponding to the portions are expanded, while the molded portion is molded so that the body portion corresponding to the portion has a substantially unexpanded U-shape in section. In addition, the shape of the body portion corresponding to the molded portion does not substantially change when the glass run is attached. That is, when the glass run is attached to the sash, it is not necessary to narrow the side walls corresponding to the molded portion. Therefore, the molded portion has no change in angle, curvature radius, circumferential length, and so on, before and after the attachment.

  • Patent number: 3987611
Abstract: Percent take-up feed of a yarn, which is taken up onto a pirn by rotary surface contact with a take-up roller via delivery rollers, is time-functionally and continuously changed by a speed converter which is inserted into a rotation transmission mechanism between both rollers and whose speed conversion ratio is adjusted by a pilot shaft in accordance with a programme which is designed on the basis of the take-up feed characteristic curve in order to obtain a yarn of uniform stretch property, the characteristic curve being in practice approximated by a combination of three or fewer straight lines.
