  • Patent number: 7898206
Abstract: A stepping motor drive is provided, by which a recoil movement of a driven member upon an initialization action can be reduced. The stepping motor drive includes: a drive signal supply means which supplies a plurality of periodic drive signals having different phases from each other to generate a rotation torque in a stepping motor, one electric cycle being constructed by a plurality of excitation steps; a control means which makes the drive signal supply means supply the drive signal upon a initialization action in which a driven member connected with rotation of the stepping motor is made abut against a stopper; and a first storing means which stores a torque control parameter according to an inversion phase characteristic intrinsic to the stepping motor.

  • Publication number: 20110019977
Abstract: Access point pictures designated as randomly accessible positions are I pictures or P pictures. Information indicating the decoding sequence (I1, P1, B1, B2, B3, B4, P2, . . . ) of pictures functioning as access points and attribute information (picture_type) indicating whether a picture functions as an access point or is necessary for decoding of the access point following a given access point are recorded on the video information recording medium. Random access is possible even if the GOP interval is lengthened.

  • Patent number: 7859216
Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide a stepper motor apparatus and a method for controlling a stepper motor, and particularly relates to a stepper motor apparatus for driving a pointer and a method for controlling the stepper motor. When an ignition switch is turned on, CPU 12 starts to feed a driving signal into the stepper motor in order to cause the stepper motor to rotate in a backward direction. Upon detecting that a protrusion 9 is in abutment with a stopper 10 on the basis of induced voltage generated on excitation coils 5 and 6, CPU stop rotation of the stepper motor 3 by maintaining the driving signal's phase at which the abutment is detected. Subsequently, CPU 12 feeds the driving signal into the stepper motor 3 in order to drive the stepper motor 3 to rotate in a direction where the protrusion 9 is driven against the stopper 10, and then stops rotation of the stepper motor 3 in a forward direction by maintaining a predetermined phase at which the driving signal arrives.

  • Patent number: 7826709
Abstract: Multimedia content containing moving pictures and audio is divided into multiple scenes and metadata is generated for each of the scenes obtained as a result of the division. It is possible to generate metadata containing scene structure information metadata that describes the hierarchical structure of the content in addition to scene section information and titles. Also, a name or an identifier of each descriptor contained in the metadata is described as hint information for manipulation of metadata composed of at least one descriptor describing semantic content, a structure, and characteristics of content.

  • Patent number: 7813571
Abstract: An image encoding apparatus includes a converter 1 for receiving an image signal, and for converting the image signal of individual blocks to DC components and AC components by orthogonal transformation of the individual blocks of an image frame; a predicted reference value generator 2 for receiving the image signal, and for generating a predicted reference value of each image frame from DC components resulting from the orthogonal transformation of left-edge blocks of the image frame; and a differential unit 3 for obtaining difference values between the DC components output from the converter 1 and the predicted reference value generated by the predicted reference value generator 2. The image encoding apparatus outputs a bit stream by quantizing and variable-length encoding the AC components and difference values obtained by the differential unit 3, and by quantizing and variable-length encoding the predicted reference value to be added to a header.
