  • Patent number: 5519610
Abstract: A control system for an automatic transmission, which can easily achieve a variety of shift patterns according to the taste of a driver and the road conditions. The control system includes: a neural network; and a mode switch for selecting either a teaching mode or an automatic mode. The neural network learns in the teaching mode and neuro-computes to output a gear ratio in the automatic mode. Tolerance error is computed from at least one of a propriety of a teaching gear ratio, a compatibility of an input value and a compatibility of the teaching gear ratio. A learning pattern is produced during the teaching mode for correcting load factors of the neural network which, in the automatic mode, outputs a gear ratio used to determine shifting of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 5411451
Abstract: A control system is provided for servo hydraulic pressure in an automatic transmission. Upon downshifting, one of first and second frictional engagement devices is released while the other is engaged. A directional control valve is provided to feed or drain servo hydraulic pressure to selectively engage or release the first and second devices. The hydraulic pressure is regulated by a pressure regulator under the control of an electronic control unit. Detectors are also provided to determine input rotation and torque, respectively. The regulator is interposed between the directional control valve and the engaged device. The regulator is controlled to maintain the servo hydraulic pressure at a predetermined value under the control of the electronic control unit until predetermined input rotation is detected and then to gradually raise the servo hydraulic pressure under the control of the electronic control on the basis of the value of input torque.

  • Patent number: 5403248
Abstract: A control system is provided for servo hydraulic pressure in an automatic transmission having planetary gear mechanisms. First and second frictional engagement devices, whose servo pressures are reversed in feed/drain relationship between desired two high speed stages, are controlled by a shift valve and a directional control valve. The shift valve is switched by a first solenoid. The directional control valve is interposed in a servo hydraulic pressure feed/drain line communicating the shift valve with the first frictional engagement device and is controlled by a second solenoid. The first and second solenoids are controlled by an electronic control unit in accordance with a shift position detected by a detector, whereby the timings of feed or drain of the servo hydraulic pressures to or from the first and second frictional engagement devices are changed by predetermined relative amounts, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5401219
Abstract: An oil pressure control system for an automatic transmission for executing a downshift by disengaging a first frictional engagement element and engaging a second frictional engagement element. At a latter stage of a shift, the first frictional engagement element has its torque capacity increased by raising its oil pressure temporarily. After this, if a synchronization substantially reaching the revolution number at a gear stage after the downshift is detected, the first frictional engagement element has its torque capacity gradually dropped by dropping the oil pressure thereof gradually, and the second frictional engagement element has its oil pressure abruptly raised.

  • Patent number: 5368531
Abstract: A method is provided for the control of servo hydraulic pressure in an automatic transmission. Servo hydraulic pressure is adapted to engage or release first and second frictional engagement elements arranged in such a relationship that, upon shifting from one particular speed stage to another, one of the first and second frictional engagement elements is released while the other is engaged. The servo hydraulic pressure, engaging one frictional engagement element, is linearly lowered in a torque phase during a shift so it releases the one frictional engagement element, responsive to a rise in the servo hydraulic pressure to the frictional engagement element to be engaged, to maintain an inversely proportional relationship between the servo hydraulic pressure being raised and that being released.

  • Patent number: 5207598
Abstract: A connector for an edge card has a plurality of contact terminals spaced apart in an elongated connector housing. Each terminal has a general U-shape contact portion which extends transverse through a contact cavity slot. The contact portion is horizontally cantilevered from a vertical cantilevered positioning portion which is disposed within a recess associated with the contact cavity, and is further displaceable therein in response to insertion of an edge card into the connector card slot. The insertion of the edge card into the card slot causes the terminal to partially deflect within the recess to bring an opposing contact surface into reliable contact with the edge card.
