  • Publication number: 20040194107
Abstract: In an information processing system for executing administration of execution of jobs by using policy rules, generating policy rules optimum for the information processing system is provided. Policy rules to be set job by job are determined not by an input person of each job but by a system manager of information processing system. For each job scheduled to be executed, an action for always minimizing an amount of loss throughout the information processing system is determined in respect of a combination of a time at which a possible event occurs and a type of the event and the action is set as a policy rule. By taking the occurrence time and type of an event such as a fault into account, a policy rule can be generated which is adapted to perform carefully thought out, optimum automatic administration for minimizing the loss amount throughout the information processing system without fail.

  • Publication number: 20040167793
Abstract: There is provided a method which can check whether or not internal data for operational risk evaluation of a business organization is collected from all computers in the business organization. In application execution servers, one or more agent for collecting loss events occurring in the computers is arranged. One or more network monitoring server connected to a network of the business organization is arranged. The network monitoring server monitors the network. When the application execution servers include a computer having no agent, the network monitoring server adds the presence of the computer having no agent to a monitoring log to make it possible to check whether the agents for collecting internal data is arranged in all computers for executing an application in the business organization. Therefore, an operational risk can be faithfully evaluated.

  • Patent number: 6567828
Abstract: In order to perform format conversion between the formats of a plurality of files without any work by a user, a file system stores a relation between a conversion originating file and a conversion destination file, and synchronously with an issue of a file operation API, the format conversion processes are executed. A user performs only the tasks essential for an application, without taking into consideration various necessary format conversions (either one-step or multi-step). During the user task, it is not necessary to designate a conversion originating file and a timing of format conversion. A user can use always a latest conversion destination file.

  • Publication number: 20030061350
Abstract: In a file transfer system, a file stored in a server computer is transmitted to a client computer through a network. A portable mobile apparatus also connectable to the network has a transmission requesting means for requesting the server computer that the user of the mobile apparatus be authenticated and a desired file be transmitted from the server computer to the client computer. The server computer has a communication control unit for transmitting the desired file requested by the mobile apparatus to the client computer after authenticating the user of the mobile apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6470391
Abstract: A communication controller at the sending computer divides data transferred from a host into sub-ACK unit packets, and transfers them sequentially to a destination without waiting for the sub-ACK's being subsequently provided by the destination. A communication controller at the receiving computer issues a sub-ACK to the sending computer for each of the sub-ACK unit packet, if the sub-ACK packet has been normally received and otherwise issues retransmission request for the sub-ACK unit packets and merges data included in the sub-ACK unit packets into the initial data, after they are normally received.

  • Patent number: 6404766
Abstract: In order to execute a flow control and a congestion control in a hop-by-hop manner in a data communication among computers connected to different networks, in a data communication between a client A1 and a remote server B, a communication proxy of the remote server B is located in a local server A in an LAN to which the client A belongs. A communication packet to be routed to the remote server B is stolen (received) and passed to a transport layer. A TCP communication between the client A1 and the remote server B is divided into two; a communication between the client A1 and the communication proxy of the remote server B and a communication between the communication proxy of the remote server B and the remote server B.

  • Patent number: 6256747
Abstract: In order to effectively make the grasp of operating conditions of a plurality of servers and a cache management in an information system without increasing a time/labor taken by an administrator, the plurality of servers forms a multi-cast hierarchy dynamically reconstructed by virtue of mutual support and the communication of server status, cache directory and validation is performed on the hierarchy. The administrator has not a need of management for cooperation between servers excepting the designation of some other servers for startup thereof. A cache between servers is shared through the exchange of a cache directory and a validation time is reduced, thereby shortening the response time for users.

  • Patent number: 6182111
Abstract: Irregular and unstable natures of the Internet to be caused by an increase in Internet accessing users are alleviated and services of an information system more comfortable to users are provided. To this end, each servers among a plurality of servers cooperating to provide services stores the past communications line state (throughput and latency), and in accordance with the stored communications lines state, cache reference and prefetch are preformed between optional servers.

  • Patent number: 6081826
Abstract: In correspondence to an application, a resource table to manage computing resources which are available for the application is provided in a rule such that a plurality of applications can mutually use distributed computing resources which could be used so far by itself and can effectively use many distributed computing resources and an execution performance can be raised. When a certain application executes a cooperative processing together with another application, resource tables are copied and a new resource table for managing resources of both of them is formed. By referring to a newly formed resource table by each application, each application can use both of the computing resources more efficiently.

  • Patent number: 5948069
Abstract: A networking method and system for performing data communication to a client computer from a server computer having a plurality of network interfaces through a network. The invention includes a LAN switch, provided between the network and the server computer. The LAN switch includes a plurality of communication paths correspondingly connected to the network interfaces of the server computer. Any one of the communication paths are usable to connect the client computer with the server computer. The invention further includes a selector for selecting one of the communication paths in accordance with a quality of service (QOS) requested by the client computer. The selector selects the communication path using information contained in a routing table in the server computer based on a network address of the network connected to the client computer.

  • Patent number: 5928360
Abstract: A computer system, which is intended for easy introduction of architectures and fundamental softwares used by users, includes one or more first computers which implement the user interface function, one or more second computers which run application programs, and a third computer which administrates the first and second computers. A first computer turned on by a user operates on the third computer to assign a second computer for running a fundamental software which controls the execution of a user's application program. The assignment of a computer which runs the fundamental software for the user's application program at the time of user request facilitates the introduction, administration and operation of fundamental softwares and computers.
