  • Patent number: 4776344
Abstract: An electronic blood pressure meter including a cuff, a pressure system for pressurizing and evacuating the cuff, a pressure sensor for detecting the pressure within the cuff, a pulse wave parameter extraction circuit and a blood pressure determining circuit. The pulse wave parameter extraction circuit extracts the maximum level difference in the pulse wave component of the cuff pressure over a certain time intervals and also provides pulse wave maximum and minimum values corresponding to the maximum and minimum values of the pulse wave components over each of the time intervals chosen. The electronic blood pressure meter may also include circuitry for finding maximum and minimum values on each of the higher and lower cuff pressure sides of the cuff and deriving blood pressure measuring readings therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4754406
Abstract: An electronic device for measuring blood pressure, according to which either systolic pressure may be derived from mean pressure and diastolic pressure, or diastolic pressure may be derived from systolic pressure and mean pressure, whereby the time duration of the application of pressure to the patient's arm may be reduced because the pressure to be applied may only range substantially over between mean pressure and diastolic pressure or between systolic pressure and mean pressure. Additionally proposed is a means for improving the accuracy of the above-mentioned derivation of systolic pressure or diastolic pressure. As a result, considerable reduction in the time duration required for measurement may be reduced without any increase in measurement errors.

  • Patent number: 4703760
Abstract: An electronic blood pressure meter including a cuff, a pressure system for pressurizing and evacuating the cuff, a pressure sensor for detecting pressure within the cuff and a pulse wave sensor for detecting the pulse wave component during the course of cuff pressure changes. The pulse wave sensor produces signals from which a pulse wave amplitude means extracts pulse wave amplitude in time sequence. The maximum value of the pulse wave amplitude is determined and maximum values of the pressure graph area on the higher and lower cuff pressure sides are determined.

  • Patent number: 4432373
Abstract: Electronic blood pressure measuring apparatus comprising pressure detecting means operatively connected with a cuff for detecting a pressure of the cuff, Korotkoff sound detecting means asociated with the cuff for detecting any Korotkoff sound contained in a sphygmus sound and generating a Korotkoff sound signal, verifying means operative in response to the Korotkoff sound output detector signal generated from the Korotkoff sound detecting means for determining systolic and diastolic blood pressures, signal detecting means for detecting the generation of a Korotkoff sound signal by said Korotkoff sound detecting means and generating an output signal, and indicator means operative in response to said output signal from said signal detecting means for displaying the generation of said Korotkoff sound signal.
