Abstract: A porous material having fine holes with controlled diameters and a catalyst having an active ingredient supported in the fine holes in the porous material are used. According to a first embodiment of the invention, the diameter of the plurality of fine holes is within a range of 8 to 9 ?. The fine hole diameter is preferably from 8 to 9 ? when the diameter is measured in a gas adsorption method in which fine holes with diameters of 3.4 to 14 ? can be measured. The fine hole diameter is also preferably from 8 to 9 ? when the fine hole diameter is calculated from a crystal structure. According to a second embodiment of the invention, the porous material is mesoporous silica. The primary particle diameter of the mesoporous silica is preferably within a range of 150 to 300 nm.

  • Patent number: 7592003
Abstract: The discovery of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) on the surface of hematopoietic cells provides new methods for the stimulation and differentiation of various classes of progenitor cells. TLR2 and TLR4 agonists (natural ligands, mimetics, antibodies) are particularly useful in these methods. The cells can be isolated and used for various purpose including tissue regeneration and grafting. In contrast, antagonists of TLRs can be used to protect cells from various insults such as chemo- and radiotherapy, acute and chronic infection, and transplantation by inhibiting activation and differentiation. TLR2, TLR4 and TLR9 pathway antagonists (soluble TLR, mimetics, antibodies) are particularly useful in these methods. Cells can be isolated and used for various purposes including transplantation.

  • Patent number: 7542823
Abstract: The invention aims to provide a zone controlled conveyor system including a plurality of zones for control. A zone controlled conveyor system, while conveyance of any article from a zone to a downstream zone is forbidden, (a) starts operation of a driving roller in the zone at a first conveying speed slower than a prescribed standard conveying speed upon detection of a presence of an article from an immediately upstream zone of the zone, (b) operates the driving roller at a second conveying speed slower than the first conveying speed after arrival of the article at a predetermined position in the zone, and (c) halts operation of the driving roller upon detection of a presence of the article in the zone. Thereby, the system enables to stop articles at a target position accurately.

  • Publication number: 20080072581
Abstract: This invention provides a method involving the use of a non-ammonia-based deNOx catalyst for reducing the amount of NOx in exhaust combustion gas discharged from a boiler and an internal-combustion engine, wherein NOx and CO contained in exhaust gas are allowed to selectively react to reduce and remove NOx. This method involves the use of a catalyst comprising a cerium-zirconium composite oxide with Au supported thereon or a catalyst comprising a cerium-oxide-containing porous carrier with zirconium and Au supported thereon. Use of such catalyst enables purification of NOx and CO in exhaust gas and also enables generation of hydrogen.

  • Publication number: 20050130836
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing a catalyst for removing nitrogen oxides which comprises dispersing a hydrated titanium (Ti) oxide or dried material thereof, tungstic acid or a salt thereof, and cerium (Ce) dioxide in a dispersion medium to form a sol-like material, mixing the sol-like material with an aqueous medium to form a catalyst slurry or paste, supporting the catalyst slurry or paste on a catalyst carrier, and then calcinating the carrier; in which catalyst the Ce dioxide is prevented from being embedded in the Ti oxide to realize such a high degree of dispersion of the Ce dioxide on the surface of the Ti oxide as comparable with the case wherein cerium ions are dispersed in micro voids of a zeolite by ion exchange; and the catalyst is free from the occurrence of such phenomena as sintering of the Ti oxide, and deterioration of zeolite with steam when a zeolite is used as carrier.

  • Patent number: 6833117
Abstract: The catalyst structure of the present invention for purifying an exhaust gas is preferable for increasing the contact of an exhaust gas, to be treated, with a catalyst by disturbing the flow of the exhaust gas in a gas flow passage thereby obtain a highly efficient and compact apparatus for treating the exhaust gas. Such catalyst structure is produced by forming two or more catalyst elements each supporting a catalyst component on its surface and having flat plate portions and level-changing portions formed alternately therein with the angle formed between the flat plate portion and the level-changing portion being in a specific range, and then stacking the catalyst elements in a frame. A catalyst structure is also obtained by stacking a large number of the catalyst elements described above through metallic, ceramic, or glass netlike members interposed therebetween and each having a large number of perforated holes.

  • Patent number: 6721037
Abstract: A device for exposing a peripheral area of a wafer, in which the area which is located within the wafer (and which need not be exposed) is prevented from being exposed regardless of the orientation the wafer which bears a notch in its periphery. The device includes an exposure light irradiation part, a wafer edge determination part, and a notch determination part are arranged integrally with each other. The wafer edge determination part moves such that it follows the edge of the wafer. The peripheral area of the edge of the wafer is exposed by exposure light emitted by the exposure light irradiation part. When the exposure sequence begins irradiation with exposure light is not immediately done, even if the means for wafer edge determination has determined the wafer edge. Instead, the wafer is rotated by a given amount and then exposure is begun. When the area irradiated with exposure light reaches the notch starting position, wafer edge determination is stopped until the end position of the notch is reached.

  • Patent number: 6392405
Abstract: A sensor ring is coaxially mounted on a free end portion of a rotating element for detecting rotations of the rotating element. The free end portion defines an axially extending cylindrical surface and a radially extending stop surface for mounting of the sensor ring. The sensor ring has a cylindrical portion which defines a cylindrical center opening to be press fitted over the axially extending cylindrical surface of the free end portion of the rotating element. The sensor ring also has a flange portion which extends diagonally radially outward from one end periphery of the cylindrical portion such that the flange portion abuts on the stop surface of the free end portion of the rotating element when the sensor ring is completely mounted on the rotating element. The diagonally extending flange portion can avoid a connection curvature between the axial and radial surfaces of the free end portion of the rotating element during the press fitting operation.
