  • Patent number: 4190935
Abstract: A slide fastener stringer includes a stringer tape of a warp-knit structure and a series of discrete or separate fastener elements mounted on and along one longitudinal edge of the stringer tape. The stringer tape has a reinforcing cord laid therein or inserted in an outermost groove between adjacent two wales of the tape, the cord extending warpwise and being thicker than the threads forming the tape fabric. The reinforcing cord is stitched with lock or double locked stitches at intervals spaced along the tape, thereby providing an element-anchoring bead on the tape. A pair of additional threads are preferably interlaced with the stitches and are disposed on the flat surface of the tape.

  • Patent number: 4123830
Abstract: A slide fastener stringer includes a reinforcing cord on and along one edge of a stringer tape, the reinforcing cord having a central core and a warp-knit tube surrounding the core and extending longitudinally therewith. The warp-knit tube is made on a circular knitting machine and formed with a plurality of knitting threads having needle loops angularly spaced around the core and sinker loops extending circumferentially across and over the core and between the needle loops. The needle and sinker loops are urged into fastening or clinching engagement with the core.

  • Patent number: 4047402
Abstract: Two or more warp-knitted members of a tubular or cylindrical shape are interconnected by a connecting thread to provide reinforcement to be inserted longitudinally in a row of helically coiled fastener elements. The tubular warp-knitted members may be wrapped around core members. A choice is available of diameters of the warp-knitted members so as to be compatible with the particular shapes and contours of given fastener elements. A plurality of warp-knitted members are interconnected in such a fashion that the resulting reinforcement can be adapted for securing a relatively large-size fastener element onto the tape.

  • Patent number: 4047265
Abstract: A sliding clasp fastener stringer is disclosed which comprises a warp-knit support tape carrying a row of interlocking fastener elements, said tape having a web portion of a relatively coarse interstice structure suitable for stitching the tape to an article of clothing, and a longitudinal edge portion formed solely by knit-loop forming threads suitable for mounting the row of fastener elements stably into position thereon against displacement relative to the tape. The web portion and the edge portion are interconnected transversely by a connecting portion which is formed by threads merging from both of said portions and which has a relatively fine interstice structure.

  • Patent number: 4041577
Abstract: A fastener stringer comprises a warp-knit tape and a row of interlocking fastener elements secured thereto. The tape has a web portion formed by chain stitches defining longitudinally extending wales, tricot stitches extending diagonally across and between a plurality of adjacent wales, and laid-in weft threads extending over and connecting every four wales. The tape also has a longitudinal edge portion consisting solely of knit-loop forming threads. Both of the portions are interconnected transversely of the tape by threads constituting the web portion and edge portion, respectively. One of the wales adjacent the longitudinal edge portion is biased toward the web portion to widen an interwale valley between the above-mentioned one of wales and its neighboring wale.

  • Patent number: 4022034
Abstract: A reinforcement is provided for reinforcing a longitudinal edge of a stringer tape for a slide fastener, which reinforcement consists of an elongate core member and a tubular member holding the former centrally in place. The tubular member is a warp-knitted fabric formed by a Raschel or tricot double-needle knitting machine, the fabric having sinker loops interconnected with corresponding needle loops and urging the latter into fastening engagement with the core member.

  • Patent number: 4015450
Abstract: A slide fastener of the concealed or masked type comprises a pair of opposed support tapes each having a longitudinal edge portion folded on itself and rows of interlocking fastener elements secured to the folded edge portions of the respective support tapes. The tape is made of a warp-knit fabric having on one surface a multiplicity of alternate wales and interwale grooves. A particular wale disposed close to the path of a sewing needle is formed with fewer knit threads than the remaining portions of the tape to reduce the loop density thereat and hence renders this wale portion flexible to permit the tape to yield itself to the sewing pressure.

  • Patent number: 4015449
Abstract: A slide fastener stringer tape of a warp-knitted structure is disclosed which is adapted for mounting thereon a row of interlocking fastener elements. The warp-knitted stringer tape has the interwale groove at the tape edge along and through which a line of element-sewing stitches passes. The interwale groove is defined between the outermost wale and an adjoining wale and is provided therein solely with tricot sinker loops which connect these wales together in each course. This arrangement is such that the sewing needle can be directed to and through any optional position of the interwale groove without having regard to the position of the courses.

  • Patent number: 4014190
Abstract: A warp-knitted fabric having a plurality of seams disposed at predetermined intervals in a transverse direction of the fabric and extending longitudinally of the fabric. Water-soluble fibers or threads soluble at a first temperature join alternate ones of the seams and water-soluble fibers or threads soluble at a second temperature higher than the first temperature join the remaining seams. The water-soluble fibers or threads may be of polyvinyl alcohol.

  • Patent number: 3996773
Abstract: A slide fastener tape of a warp-knitted structure is provided with a web portion and a marginal edge portion extending lengthwise thereof, both portions being interconnected by a relatively strong transversely extending lapping threads. A combination of chain stitches and tricot stitches having alternate closed and open laps is utilized in the formation of the web portion to provide a stable knit structure, while the marginal edge portion is reinforced by double-layer tricot stitches to render this portion uniformly swollen so that the fastener elements can be securely mounted with their legs astride of the swollen edge.

  • Patent number: 3974550
Abstract: A stringer for a slide fastener is provided with a warp-knit tape having alternate wales and interwale grooves and a row of fastener elements secured thereto. The element has a recess in one of its legs for receiving a larger wale of the tape. The interwale grooves located on opposite sides of said larger wale are adapted to receive therethrough sewing threads and are widened such that the inner surfaces of the grooves are urged into intimate contact with said one leg under the influence of sewing pressure applied when sewing the element to the tape.
