  • Patent number: 6482467
Abstract: Provided is a ceramic coated product and a coating for it, making it possible to improve corrosion resistance, wear resistance and the like of a material to be treated, and heighten aesthetically commercial value by a thin film forming or producing method using low-priced equipment. An ejection powder and a reactive ejecting gas are ejected onto a surface of a material to be treated comprising a metal product, a ceramic, or a mixture thereof. The ejection powder is heated on the surface of the material to be treated and then is reacted with the reactive ejecting gas. The resultant product is activation-adsorbed onto the surface of the material to be treated and caused to diffuse and penetrate thereinto. Thus, a layer made of a nitride or other compounds is formed.

  • Patent number: 6156377
Abstract: Provided is a low-priced metal coating treatment which causes less pollution, wherein the dispersion of ceramics and the forming of a metal coat are performed by blasting treatment; and a ceramic dispersion plating process making it possible to improve wear resistance, heat resistance and the like of a workpiece and the adhesion of the metal coat. When ceramic particles are ejected on the surface of a workpiece comprising a metal or a metal component by blasting, the workpiece is heated and softened so that the ceramic particles are dispersed inside the workpiece to form a dispersed layer. When a coating metal powder is further ejected thereon by blasting, the temperature of the dispersed layer rises in the same way so that elements in the composition of the coating metal powder diffuse and penetrate inside/on the surface of the dispersed layer to form a plating layer.

  • Patent number: 6018854
Abstract: When a shot having a hardness equal to or higher than a ferrous or nonferrous metal shot material is blasted against the surface of the metal shot material at a blasting speed of 80 m/s or above, the collision causes heat to be generated only in portions of the metal shot material against which the shot has collided. The temperature is raised in the vicinity of the surface of the metal shot material. Alternatively, the metal shot material may be blasted against a metal body having a hardness at least equal to that of the temperature of the metal shot material. In either case, the temperature in the vicinity of the surface of the metal shot material is increased to or above an A.sub.3 transformation temperature when the material is ferrous and is increased to or above a recrystallization temperature when the material is nonferrous. Subsequently, the metal shot material is quickly cooled. As a result, the metallurgical structure of the surface layer 20.mu.

  • Patent number: 5592840
Abstract: By shot-peening, shots having almost spherical shape are impacted against a surface of a portion of a metal-product, the portion being one which is to be subjected to sliding action. The shots have a hardness higher than that of the metal-product. By the shot-peening, the surface of the metal-product is heated to a temperature higher than a predetermined temperature and very small concave portions, each having a circular arc-shaped cross section, are formed due to the impact of the shots. As a result, the structure of the surface layer of the sliding portion has high internal stress, high hardness and high toughness. Further, since very small concave portions are formed on the surface of the sliding portion, the surface tension of lubricating oil is not decreased and a stable oil film can be formed. In addition, the surface retains high hardness and toughness, even if sliding is performed for long time periods, and the concave portions are not deformed so that a stable oil film can be maintained.
