  • Patent number: 7204787
Abstract: An automatic transmission (5) of a vehicle performs a downshift operation when a downshift signal is ON. When the downshift signal is ON, a controller (12) increases an output torque of an engine (1) so that a predetermined torque increase amount is realized. The controller (12) sets a torque increase permission period which is shorter, the larger the predetermined torque increase amount is (S209), and when the elapsed time from when the downshift signal is ON reaches the torque increase permission period, unnecessary increase of engine rotation speed and excessive torque load on the automatic transmission (5) are prevented by terminating increase of output torque (S211, S214).

  • Publication number: 20060277407
Abstract: A user data management device, a storage medium which stores a control program, and a control method are disclosed which efficiently report the identity of a user who is using equipment to some or all members of the department in which that equipment is located, or to managers of that department, in order to be informed of the use status of that equipment, and control the use of that equipment by unauthorized users. The user data management device includes input means that inputs user data belonging to a user that will use the equipment, notification means that will provide one or more persons with identity data concerning a user who is using the equipment in which the user data was input, authentication means that authenticates the user from the user data, and notification determination means that will determine one or more persons to be provided with identity data, and then provide identity data to them that identifies the user authenticated with the authentication means by means of the notification means.

  • Publication number: 20060185637
Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed to reliably carry out engine starting without cranking. Using an internal combustion engine 1, when an idle stop condition is established, a third path switching valve 28 that is provided at the connection of the compressed air supply path 25 and a first blow-by path 21, and a blow-by control valve 24 are “closed”. The connection of the crankcase to the inlet path 14 is blocked, idling for a designated time is carried out, and finally the engine is stopped. On the other hand, when the idle stop release condition is established, an inlet valve 8 is “opened”, and the first to third path switching valves 26 to 28 are “closed”, thereby operating a compressor 17 for a designated period of time. Compressed air is thereby supplied to the combustion chamber 2 and the crankcase via the compressed air supply path 25, allowing an increase in the internal cylinder pressure. Finally, the engine is started.

  • Publication number: 20060180112
Abstract: A starting system rotates and starts an internal combustion engine by injecting fuel into a predetermined cylinder using an injector and igniting the fuel using an ignition plug, and upon starting the engine, the fuel pressure supplied to the injector is detected, and the engine is started by combustion in the predetermined cylinder only when the detected pressure is at or greater than the predetermined pressure, thereby guaranteeing the fuel pressure when combustion starting is employed, and consequently the engine can be securely started.

  • Publication number: 20060157023
Abstract: In one aspect, an internal combustion engine includes a fuel injector for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber to produce an air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber, a spark plug for igniting the air-fuel mixture to cause combustion in the combustion chamber and a controller controls the spark plug to cause combustion in the combustion chamber to apply a torque to start the engine from a stopped condition. The controller determines whether the operation of the engine will be stopped, and adjusts an operating condition of the engine if the controller determines the engine operation will be stopped.

  • Publication number: 20060142928
Abstract: An internal combustion engine and control method therefor in which the engine is selectively started by combustion without cranking. The temperature in the combustion chamber of an engine cylinder is stabilized upon starting of the engine, thereby allowing secured staring without cranking. When predetermined idling stop conditions (or engine stop conditions) are established, the temperature in the combustion chamber is estimated based on engine operating conditions read before such establishment, and the period of maintaining a engine rotational speed in a predetermined low range before stopping the engine is calculated or estimated based on the estimated temperature in the combustion chamber. The engine is then stopped after the calculated or estimated period of maintaining the engine rotational speed in the predetermined low range.

  • Patent number: 5884603
Abstract: In a V type engine comprising a catalyst in each of banks, when a fuel cut requirement on the basis of a traction control is generated, cylinders in which the fuel is cut are controlled to be switched between right and left banks. For example, when a requirement for a fuel cut with respect to two cylinders, at first, after the fuel cut of two cylinders are performed in the right bank for a predetermined time, the fuel cut of two cylinder are performed in the left bank for a predetermined time and this operation is repeated during a continuing time of the fuel cut. Accordingly, a thermal damage due to the fuel cut can be prevented from concentrating only to one catalyst.

  • Patent number: 5816353
Abstract: In a fuel cut controller wherein fuel supply is stopped to some cylinders when there is a fuel cut request, an ordinary fuel cut mode and a multi-cylinder fuel cut mode are set. When the ordinary fuel cut mode has continued for a predetermined time, fuel cut is performed in an equal or larger number of cylinders in the multi-cylinder fuel cut mode, and the engine output torque therefore decreases further. At the same time, due to the increase in cylinders where fuel supply is stopped, the amount of fresh air flowing from these cylinders to a catalytic converter increases, and the amount of unburned fuel flowing into the converter from the cylinders where fuel supply is performed decreases. As a result, heat due to reaction of unburned fuel in the converter decreases, and the increasing amount of fresh air cools the converter, so temperature rise of the converter is suppressed.
