Patent number: 6584870Abstract: A shift lever device having a shift lever which allows selection of an arbitrary shift range by shift operation and includes a support which rotatably supports the shift lever and includes breakable portions which break when an impact force above a preselected magnitude is applied to the shift lever. Accordingly, when an axial impact force indicative of a sudden deceleration is applied to the shift lever, the support is broken. The breakage of the support allows safer absorption of the impact force applied to the shift lever. The breakable portions may take the form of a frangible pin or bracket that pivotally supports the shift lever.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2001Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai-Rika-Denki-SeisakushoInventors: Masaya Nishimura, Kazuhiro Sato, Masaki Fujita, Yoshitaka Watanabe, Hitoshi Kanazawa, Noriyasu Shamoto

Patent number: 6370929Abstract: An apparatus for insertion of a key therein substantially prevents foreign matter from entering into a key insertion hole, and even if foreign matter does enter into the key insertion hole, discharges the foreign matter therefrom. A shutter is provided within the key insertion hole so as to be movable along a direction of insertion of a key. The shutter is always urged by a compression coil spring toward an opening of the insertion hole. In a state in which no key is inserted in the insertion hole, the shutter is urged by the compression coil spring and closes the insertion hole. As a result, foreign matter such as dust or the like can be prevented from entering into the insertion hole. Further, the shutter is provided with a reflecting surface, and when no key is inserted in the insertion hole, the reflecting surface reflects light from a light source so as to illuminate the opening of the insertion hole.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 2000Date of Patent: April 16, 2002Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai-Rika-Denki SeisakushoInventors: Yoshitaka Watanabe, Shoichi Harada, Keiji Yamamoto

Patent number: 6336765Abstract: A twist lock for connecting containers comprises a housing integrally formed with an upper fitting part and a lower fitting part each being capable of fitting into a fitting hole in a corner fitting of a container, a spindle inserted in the housing in a rotatable and vertically displaceable manner, an upper lock connected to the top end of the spindle and being engageable with the fitting hole in the corner fitting of the container, and a lower lock being in positional agreement with and fixed securly to the lower fitting part of the housing and slidably fitted with a plurality of locking members which can engage with and disengage from the fitting hole in the corner fitting of the container. In this twist lock, the spindle is urged by a spring member in such a direction that the upper lock can engage with the fitting hole in the corner fitting of the container, while each of the locking members is urged by another spring member in such a direction that it can retract into the lower lock.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2000Date of Patent: January 8, 2002Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Marifit, Kabushiki Kaisha Tosen Technology, Kabushiki Kaisha SanwaInventor: Yoshitaka Watanabe

Publication number: 20010037700Abstract: There is provided a shift lever device which comprises a shift lever which allows selection of an arbitrary shift range by shift operation and also comprises supporting means which rotatably supports the shift lever and is broken due to axial impact force applied to the shift lever. Accordingly, when axial impact force (strong force) is applied to the shift lever, the supporting means is broken. The breakage of the supporting means allows absorption of the impact force applied to the shift lever. Namely, in the shift lever device of the present invention, the impact force applied to the shift lever is absorbed due to the breakage of the supporting means. For this reason, an absorbing ability to the impact force is improved as compared with a conventional shift lever device.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2001Publication date: November 8, 2001Inventors: Masaya Nishimura, Kazuhiro Sato, Masaki Fujita, Yoshitaka Watanabe, Hitoshi Kanazawa, Noriyasu Shamoto

Patent number: 6286385Abstract: A shift lever device includes a shift lever which allows selection of an arbitrary shift range by shift operation and which is rotatably supported by a structure that breaks when an axial impact force above a preselected magnitude is applied to the shift lever. The breakage of the supporting structure allows safer absorption of an impact force applied to the shift lever. The breakable supporting structure may take the form of a portion of a thin portion of a circular wall forming a bearing that rotatably supports the shift lever, or a frangible pin or bracket that pivotably supports the shift lever.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1997Date of Patent: September 11, 2001Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai-Rika-Denki-SeisakushoInventors: Masaya Nishimura, Kazuhiro Sato, Masaki Fujita, Yoshitaka Watanabe, Hitoshi Kanazawa, Noriyasu Shamoto

Patent number: 6082216Abstract: A shift lever gripped by a driver for operating the transmission of a vehicle is inserted into a hole of a lever holder. The lever holder is axially supported to the vehicle so as to transmit the operation of the shift lever to the transmission. A plurality of ribs are projected into the holes and when a heavy load acts in the axial direction of the shift lever, the shift lever moves to break the rib. Accordingly, the axial direction load of the shift lever is absorbed.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1998Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai-Rika-Denki-SeisakushoInventors: Yoshitaka Watanabe, Masaki Fujita

Patent number: 5905511Abstract: The driving frequency of a head is changed in conformity with temperature, and density data is converted into an optimum head driving voltage in conformity with temperature, whereby the discharge driving frequency and driving voltage of the recording head become optimum under any temperature condition, and thus recording of high quality is ensured since irregularities cause by the temperature variation of the recording head are eliminated. The driving voltage is set by a drive control circuit that includes a plurality of limiters, one of which is chosen in accordance with ambient temperature.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1994Date of Patent: May 18, 1999Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yoshitaka Watanabe, Nobuaki Sakurada, Makoto Aoki, Eiichi Sato

Patent number: 5685405Abstract: A shift lock apparatus which allows a shift interlock wire and a key interlock wire to be arranged more effectively and neatly within the vehicle body. A lock pin engages with a first engagement portion perpendicularly each other. The shift interlock wire is linked with the first engagement portion and moves as a shift lever is locked or unlocked. The lock pin is moved by a brake pedal when the brake pedal is released. When a key inserted into a key cylinder is rotated from an ACC position to a LOCK position, the key interlock wire moves to establish engagement with a second engagement portion. Both wires intersect each other, and also the lock pin and the wire intersect each other, thereby providing secure operation and a shorter and neater layout of wires when a housing is installed within the interior of the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1995Date of Patent: November 11, 1997Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai-Rika-Denki-SeisakushoInventors: Minoru Morikawa, Masaki Fujita, Yasushi Kunieda, Yoshitaka Watanabe, Shoichi Harada
