    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device is disclosed. In one embodiment, the device includes: a panel having a first substrate and a second substrate with a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween, and a first polarizing plate and a second polarizing plate, respectively, attached on the exterior surfaces of the first substrate and the second substrate. The device may further include a driving chip installed in a boundary of the first substrate at the opposite surface of the first substrate onto which the first polarizing plate is attached, wherein the first polarizing plate covers the boundary of the first substrate and has a cut portion corresponding to the first substrate in which the driving chip is installed.

    Abstract: One or more embodiments of a backlight assembly include a light guide plate (LGP), a light source module and an optical sheet. The LGP includes a side surface and an upper surface. The light source module includes a power-transmitting member and a plurality of point light sources disposed on the power-transmitting member. A side portion of the power-transmitting member is disposed on a peripheral portion of the upper surface adjacent to the side surface and a light-exiting surface of the point light sources facing the side surface to be adjacent to the side surface. The optical sheet is disposed on the upper surface. A portion of the optical sheet is disposed between a corner portion of the upper surface and the power-transmitting member adjacent to the light-exiting surface. The amount of the light absorbed by a reflective member may be decreased to improve the efficiency of the light.

The base substrate includes a light-emitting diode (LED) mounted on a first surface of the base substrate. The electrical wiring is electrically connected to the LED. The dummy pad is formed on the first surface to be connected to the electrical wiring. The thermally conductive adhesion member is attached to a second surface of the base substrate. Therefore, superior heat radiation may be obtained, thereby reducing or preventing damage to the LED and the LCD device using the LED by radiating the heat from the LED used as a light source.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a mold for producing a light guide panel and a method of manufacturing the light guide panel using the mold are presented. The mold is made by manufacturing a pattern master on which a fine pattern is formed. A side mold for forming a light-receiving surface of a light guide panel is immersed in an electrolyte containing metal ions, along with the pattern master. A voltage is applied to the electrolyte and the side mold such that the fine pattern on the pattern master is transferred to the side mold with the metal ions in the electrolyte, forming a prism pattern forming portion on the side mold. The prism pattern is formed on a light-receiving portion of the light guide panel using the side mold thus prepared. The shape accuracy and surface accuracy of the prism pattern are improved by using the presented method.

The diffusively reflective film may be bent to cover the light guide plate without being broken so as to increase the amount of light. Thus, a display quality is enhanced. Further, the diffusively reflective film covers the first side face, the second side face and the first face of light guide plate at once. Thus, productivity is enhanced and its manufacturing cost is reduced.
