    Abstract: A light guiding plate to enhance uniformity of brightness and a backlight assembly and a display device having the same in one or more embodiments. In one embodiment, the light guiding plate includes a plurality of the linear shaped prisms on a back surface thereof, and the linear shaped prisms are omitted partially at the incident portion of the light guiding plate such that a non-prism area, connection area, and prism area are formed in stated order from the incident portion end on the back surface of the light guiding plate. Therefore, the display device having the light guiding plate is adapted to increase a uniformity of brightness of the edge type backlight, and the display quality can be improved.

    Abstract: A backlight assembly includes a light source providing light, a mold frame receiving the light source unit and a bottom chassis. The bottom chassis includes a bottom plate, sidewalls extending from the bottom plate and an extension part bent from at least one of the sidewalls and overlapping an adjacent sidewall. The mold frame and the bottom chassis are integrally formed. The extension part overlaps the adjacent sidewall at a corner of the bottom chassis. Thus, the torsional strength of the bottom chassis and a backlight assembly having the bottom chassis is improved. The torsional strength is maintained when a backlight assembly is manufactured.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a mold for producing a light guide panel and a method of manufacturing the light guide panel using the mold are presented. The mold is made by manufacturing a pattern master on which a fine pattern is formed. A side mold for forming a light-receiving surface of a light guide panel is immersed in an electrolyte containing metal ions, along with the pattern master. A voltage is applied to the electrolyte and the side mold such that the fine pattern on the pattern master is transferred to the side mold with the metal ions in the electrolyte, forming a prism pattern forming portion on the side mold. The prism pattern is formed on a light-receiving portion of the light guide panel using the side mold thus prepared. The shape accuracy and surface accuracy of the prism pattern are improved by using the presented method.
