Abstract: A sliding/swing-type portable apparatus having a self-retaining function includes a main body; a battery cover coupled to the bottom surface of the main body in a predetermined position so that it can rotate about a first hinge axis toward or away from the main body and provided with a folding force, at less than a first angle relative to the bottom surface of the main body, in such a direction that it is folded on the main body, an unfolding force at the first angle or more, and a retaining force at a second angle for retaining the main body in an upright position, at a slant; and a battery pack attached to and detached from the battery cover.

Abstract: Provided is a slave unit for a multimedia portable communication terminal, which can be used or carried independently of or as one body with the multimedia portable terminal. The slave unit includes a first extending module employed as the slave unit as being connected with the multimedia portable terminal in one of a wired and wireless manner, a second extending module employed as the slave unit as being connected in parallel with the first extending module, and a combining means for combining the first extending module with the second extending module as one body in parallel with each other.

Abstract: A portable terminal includes a main housing having a display device and a second keypad positioned adjacently to the display device and a first keypad adapted to slide on the main housing to expose and hide at least a part of the display device. The first keypad overlaps the second keypad when the display device is exposed. The portable terminal having a movable keypad can expose a part of the movable keypad, which is adapted to slide, and to position it in such a manner that it overlaps another keypad when not used to provide a large screen. In addition, the movable keypad does not independently occupy a space on the terminal but can selectively overlap another keypad or the display device for making the terminal in a compact size.

Abstract: Disclosed is a mobile communication device. The mobile communication device includes a first body section having a keypad arranged on a first upper surface thereof; and a second body section connected to the first body section and having a display screen arranged on an upper surface thereof, the second body section linearly sliding from a first position where the second body section overlays the first body section to a second position where the second body section exposes a first part of the keypad, the first part providing input functions of numerals and letters, the second body section rotating while facing the first upper surface from the first position to a third position where the second body section fully exposes the keypad. The communications device can selectively provide QWERTY keyboard arrangement, thereby allowing increasingly integrated electronics and complex features sufficiently utilized and long text messages easily edited.

Abstract: Provided is a portable terminal having a game function. The terminal includes a main body housing having a first keypad and a second keypad; a folding housing having a third keypad, a hinge device for rotatably coupling the folding housing to the main body housing about a first hinge axis; an opening unit provided between the main housing and the folding housing along the first hinge axis; and a swing housing positioned on the folding housing, swinging about a second hinge axis from the folding housing to a position longitudinally parallel with the main body housing and the folding housing, opening the first keypad and the opening unit before swinging to expose the first keypad, and closing the first keypad and the opening unit after swinging to hide the first keypad. Thus, a user interface environment can be improved in a game mode and in a phone mode.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a portable terminal having a camera lens assembly includes a first housing; a second housing adapted to rotate about a hinge axis extending along a direction to unfold from a state in which it faces the first housing or to fold on the first housing; a lens housing positioned on the second housing and adapted to rotate about a rotation axis extending perpendicularly to the hinge axis; and an exposure opening formed on the outer peripheral surface of the lens housing. The portable terminal having a camera lens assembly has a pair of housings adapted to rotate about a hinge axis to fold/unfold and a lens housing adapted to rotate about a rotation axis extending perpendicularly to the hinge axis for photographing in various directions. As the lens housing is not positioned in the terminal, the terminal design can be diversified and more efficient utilization of space for mounting components can be achieved.

Abstract: A golf travel bag is disclosed which protects the golf clubs during travel and storage and which can be used in playing a round of golf. The golf bag includes a shell which is generally of parallelpiped shape. The top of the golf bag slants upwardly and is provided with stepped golf clubs dividers which include apertures for receiving golf clubs at the thread of each step. The golf bag includes pockets for carrying golf accessories.

Abstract: A personal digital assistant comprises a housing having the top and a bottom. A display screen at the top of the housing. A keyboard hinged to one side of the housing and adapted to rotate from a first position where it is stored on the bottom of the housing with the keys facing the housing and a second position where it overlies a portion of the display screen with the keys exposed for manipulation by the user and the remaining portion of the screen displays information.

Abstract: A water supply method of a washing machine optimizes a washing performance by sufficiently supplying water according to an amount and type of laundry. The method includes steps of setting first and second water levels based on an amount and type of laundry in a washing machine; supplying water to the washing machine according to the set first water level; sensing a current water level to determine a degree of absorption of the water into the laundry during a predetermined time, the degree of absorption being determined by comparing the currently sensed water level to the second water level; re-supplying water to the washing machine to compensate for the degree of absorption; resetting the second water level according to a comparison of a water re-supply count to a predetermined value; and performing washing if the currently sensed water level is greater than the second water level.

The keypad assembly is rotatable about at least two axes, and removable from the handset. The keypad assembly has a first side for a telephone keypad and a second side for a data communication keypad. The handset cover is rotatably coupled to the handset and includes an exterior display and an interior display. The exterior display is capable of displaying electronic information when the handset cover is in a folded position with respect to the handset.

The keypad provides a partial view of the screen in a lowered position and a full view of the screen in a raised position. The keypad comprises a window that provides the partial view of the screen when the keypad is in a lowered position. A cover hingably mounts to the base wherein the keypad is located between the cover and the base. The cover rotates between an open position and a closed position. The screen displays telephone information when the keypad is in a lowered position. Control buttons coupled to the base are covered when the cover is in the closed position and uncovered when the cover is in an open position. In an additional embodiment, control buttons coupled to the base are uncovered when the cover is in both the closed position and the open position.

Abstract: A notebook computer has a body cover which is hinged to a support rotatably carried by the body. The cover has a main display which in a closed position overlies the body and in an open position pivots and rotates the main display away from the body. A further embodiment of the present invention includes an auxiliary display which is hinged to the cover on the side opposite the main display. In a first, closed position the auxiliary display lies parallel with the cover and in a second, open position maintains an angle with the cover.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for the identification of a treatment for overproduction of mucin during otitis media (OM) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The method uses a MUC5AC plasmid to identify novel cytoplasmic proteins of Nontypeable Haemophilus influenzae, a common mediator of OM and COPD, which up-regulate human MUC5AC mucin transcription via a positive p38 MAP kinase pathway and a negative PI 3-Kinase-Akt pathway. These proteins can be used to identify or design inhibitors of the p38 MAP kinase pathway and activators of the PI 3-kinase Akt pathway.
