Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a broadcasting and communication convergence service are provided. The method includes acquiring address information about an Internet server configured to provide an application customized based on user information and/or device information about a terminal, transmitting an application request message to the Internet server using the address information, receiving the customized application on a broadcast channel from the Internet server in response to the application request message, and consuming the customized application.

Abstract: A method for supplying an N-screen service by a main N-screen device in a broadcast system is provided. The method includes receiving an Application Information Table (AIT) including a screen_type indicating a type of N-screen device in which a broadcast service application will be run from a broadcast service provider, and one of running the broadcast service application based on the screen_type, performing an operation related to running the broadcast service application by considering a connection relationship between the main N-screen device and a sub N-screen device based on the screen_type, and discarding the AIT based on the screen_type.

Abstract: A method of configuring a markup for composition of multimedia elements in a multimedia communication system is provided. The method includes configuring area description information corresponding to each of a plurality of areas included in a scene, configuring multimedia description information corresponding to at least one multimedia included in each of the plurality of areas, configuring scene composition information describing spatial composition and temporal composition of each of the plurality of areas, and configuring a markup including the scene composition information, the area description information, and the multimedia description information.

Abstract: An event-processing method and system are provided for efficiently re-delivering notification events stored by a Remote User Interface Server (RUIS), from the RUIS to remote user interface clients (RUICs), in a home network supporting an RUI. An RUIC transmits an information request to the remote user interface server, receives, from the RUIS, notification event information corresponding to the information request, transmits a notification event request based on the received notification event information to the RUIS, and receives, from the RUIS, at least one notification event corresponding to the notification event request.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for providing a User Interface (UI) page in a home network are provided. At a first client receives a UI page from a server. A UI state of a current UI page is transmitted from the first client to the server or a second client to store the UI state of the current UI page in the server or the second client, when a UI state storage event for storing the UI state of the current UI page occurs. When a request for restoration of the UI state is generated by the second client, the UI state is controlled according to a capability of the second client by the server or the second client, and the controlled UI state is applied to the UI page received from the server by the second client.

Abstract: Embodiments disclose a method of processing signals in a digital broadcast receiving apparatus. The method of processing signals in the digital broadcast receiving apparatus further includes: extracting information about at least one widget, associated with a current broadcast program, from streaming data received through a broadcast network; installing the at least one widget in the digital broadcast receiving device on the basis of the extracted information; and executing the installed widget using input data installed in the streaming data of the current broadcast program.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for updating a User Interface (UI) by a Remote UI (RUI) client in an RUI system providing a UI to a user in a remote location. The RUI client receives a UI page from an RUI server, and renders the received UI page. Upon detecting a change in its capability, the RUI client stores a UI state of the UI page and requests the RUI server to update the UI page according to the changed capability. The RUI client receives a UI page updated according to the changed capability, from the RUI server, reflects the stored UI state in the updated UI page, and renders the UI state-reflected updated UI page.

Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for providing a User Interface (UI) component to a second Remote User Interface Client (RUIC) incapable of directly receiving the UI component from a Remote User Interface Server (RUIS) in a first RUIC capable of directly receiving the UI component from the RUIS. In the method, the first RUIC discovers the second RUIC that will receive the UI component. Upon discovering the second RUIC, the first RUIC performs a device capability matching procedure between the RUIS and the second RUIC. After completion of the device capability matching procedure, the first RUIC provides the second RUIC with a UI component received from the RUIS and processed for the second RUIC, and delivers control information for the UI component from the second RUIC to the RUIS.
