    Abstract: A circular polarization filter of a chiral metasurface structure is disclosed including a substrate having a nanograting pattern extending from the substrate, a dielectric layer formed directly on the nanograting pattern, and a plasmonic structure in direct contact with the dielectric layer, where the plasmonic structure may be oriented at a nonzero angle with respect to the nanograting pattern. An integrated polarization filter array is also disclosed including include a linear polarization filter, and a circular polarization filter. Methods of detecting full-stokes polarization using an integrated polarization filter array having both linear and circular polarization filters made from chiral metasurface structures is disclosed. Methods of using a Mueller matrix to evaluate polarization response of any optical device or system is also disclosed.

    Abstract: The use of menthol or an isomer thereof for preparation of a topical composition to improve neurodegenerative diseases and stroke wherein the neurodegenerative diseases are attributed to cerebral neurons impaired or degenerated, shortage of dopamine in a brain. The topical composition is manufactured as patches, liquids, pastes, oily substances, powders, gels, sprays, composite products or other products to be covered on limbs and applied on skin. A product to be covered on limbs can be a glove, a foot muff, a sock or an extended part or a layered object from a garment for continuous contact between skin and menthol. The present invention also provides the use of menthol or an isomer thereof for preparation of a topical composition to improve diseases or symptoms attributed to cerebral neurons impaired or degenerated, shortage of dopamine or stroke.

    Abstract: Techniques and systems are described for performing semantic text searches. A semantic text-searching solution uses a machine learning system (such as a deep learning system) to determine associations between the semantic meanings of words. These associations are not limited by the spelling, syntax, grammar, or even definition of words. Instead, the associations can be based on the context in which characters, words, and/or phrases are used in relation to one another. In response to detecting a request to locate text within an electronic document associated with a keyword, the semantic text-searching solution can return strings within the document that have matching and/or related semantic meanings or contexts, in addition to exact matches (e.g., string matches) within the document. The semantic text-searching solution can then output an indication of the matching strings.

Respective prediction results for a plurality of tree models of the tree ensemble are determined based on the plurality of target transformed intervals and respective node hierarchies of the plurality of tree models. A tree ensemble prediction result is determined for the input request based on the determined prediction results of the plurality of tree models.

    Abstract: A major hurdle in the treatment of cancer is chemoresistance induced under hypoxia that is characteristic of tumor microenvironment. Triptolide, a potent inhibitor of eukaryotic transcription, possesses potent antitumor activity. However, its clinical potential has been limited by toxicity and water solubility. To address those limitations of triptolide, the present disclosure designed and synthesized glucose-triptolide conjugates (glutriptolides) and demonstrated their antitumor activity in vitro and in vivo. The glutriptolides disclosed herein possess improved stability in human serum, greater selectivity towards cancer over normal cells and increased potency against cancer cells. Importantly, the glutriptolides are more potent against cancer cells under hypoxic conditions in contrast to existing cytotoxic drugs. These glutriptolides also exhibit sustained antitumor activity, prolonging survival in a prostate cancer metastasis animal model.
