    Abstract: An execution in parallel method for a graphic processing unit includes providing a plurality of threads, enabling a first program counter, and the first program counter running a first program on the plurality of threads. When receiving a fork instruction, enable a second program counter, and if a first active mask of the fork instruction is set as a pass mask, and a second active mask is set as a fail mask, the first program counter activates a first set of threads corresponding to the pass mask. When the first set of threads is blocked, the second program counter activates a second set of threads corresponding to the fail mask. When the second set of threads is blocked, the first program counter activates the first set of threads. When receiving a join instruction, disable the second program counter, and the first program counter activates the plurality of threads.

The circular buffer is configured to store a portion of the instructions, where access speed of the circular buffer is faster than access speed of the instruction cache bank. The selection circuit is configured to select one of a first instruction from the instruction cache bank and a second instruction from the circular buffer to be output as an output instruction for the processor according to whether a read address is found in the circular buffer or not.

    Abstract: An example of a system using two-stage, the cache tag is stored in a primary and a secondary tag memories. When requesting data, the system searches the cache to retrieve the data, an operation that involves cache tag lookup. Cache tag lookup is performed by cache management. The cache management receives a cache tag for reading data from the cache memory. The cache management selects a hash function from a group of hash functions and computes a primary lookup tag using the selected hash function and the cache tag. The cache management compares the primary lookup tag to the contents of the primary tag memory to determine if there is a hit. If there is no hit, the cache management selects another hash function and repeats the search in the primary tag memory.

M threads are issued to process a workload, and a memory access request associated with the M threads is transmitted to a first-level cache of the processing system. The memory access request is then transmitted to a second-level cache of the processing system in response to the first cache miss at the first-level cache. The memory access request is transmitted to a main memory of the processing system in response to the second cache miss at the second-level cache. The value of M is decreased when the relationship between the hit rates of the second-level cache and the first-level cache satisfies a predetermined criterion. A storage capacity and an access latency of the second-level cache are higher than those of the first-level cache.
