  • Patent number: 8599997
Abstract: A multiple-modulus divider and an associated control method are provided. The multiple-modulus divider includes a divisor loader, a multiple-modulus dividing circuit and a modulus controller. The divisor loader downloads a divisor when a download signal indicates a start of a division period. The multiple-modulus circuit includes a plurality of cascaded divisors, and provides an output frequency according to an input frequency and the divisor. The dividers respectively output a plurality of modulus output signals, and each is operable under either a close-loop state or an open-loop state. The modulus controller selects and controls one of the dividers according to the divisor, and ensures the selected divider is maintained at the open-loop state when the division period ends. The download signal corresponds to one of the modulus output signals.

  • Publication number: 20130278344
Abstract: An oscillation signal generator includes a quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator (QVCO), a phase corrector and a frequency adjusting circuit. The QVCO provides multiple oscillation signals having difference phases. The phase corrector selects one of the oscillation signals as a first oscillation signal and outputs the first oscillation signal from a first output terminal, and selects one of the oscillation signals as a second oscillation signal and outputs the second oscillation signal from a second output terminal. A phase difference between the first and second oscillation signals satisfies a predetermined relationship. The frequency adjusting circuit is coupled to the phase corrector, and generates a quadrature signal and an in-phase signal according to the oscillation signals. The frequency of the oscillation signals is a non-integral multiple of the frequencies of the quadrature and in-phase signals.

  • Publication number: 20130278256
Abstract: Parallel magnetic resonance imaging (pMRI) reconstruction techniques are commonly used to reduce scan time by undersampling the k-space data. In GRAPPA, a k-space based pMRI technique, the missing k-space data are estimated by solving a set of linear equations; however, this set of equations does not take advantage of the correlations within the missing k-space data. All k-space data in a neighborhood acquired from a phased-array coil are correlated. The correlation can be estimated easily as a self-constraint condition, and formulated as an extra set of linear equations to improve the performance of GRAPPA. We propose a modified k-space based pMRI technique call self-constraint GRAPPA (SC-GRAPPA) which combines the linear equations of GRAPPA with these extra equations to solve for the missing k-space data. Since SC-GRAPPA utilizes a least-squares solution of the linear equations, it has a closed-form solution that does not require an iterative solver.

  • Publication number: 20130279781
Abstract: A method for improving the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of TGRAPPA. The SNR of the ACS lines is proportional to the condition number of the GRAPPA kernel encoding equations. Therefore, the GRAPPA kernel estimated from higher SNR ACS lines amplifies the random noise in GRAPPA reconstruction. In TGRAPPA reconstruction of dynamic image series, a widely used method to acquire ACS lines is to average-all-frame (AAF). The present disclosure utilizes a tile-all-frame (TAF) as ACS lines to improve the SNR of the reconstructed images.

  • Publication number: 20130268248
Abstract: A method of selecting the positions of wells to be drilled for the development of a petroleum reservoir from a set of reservoir images. Well configurations are optimized by calculating a first quality criterion using a flow simulator applied to a limited number of reservoir images. Previously obtained configuration simulation results previously obtained are used for configurations physically close to the configuration to be assessed. A second reservoir development quality criterion is calculated for the optimized configurations using a flow simulator applied to each image of the reservoir. Finally, the well location corresponding to the optimized configuration having the best second quality criterion is selected.
