The first signal processing unit performs a first signal processing operation upon a television signal according to a feedback signal to reduce distortion of the television signal and accordingly generate a processed television signal. The television demodulator is coupled to the first signal processing unit for receiving the processed television signal, and demodulating the processed television signal to generate a demodulated television signal.

    Abstract: MRI techniques seek to simultaneously measure physiological parameters in multiple directions, requiring the application of multiple encoding magnetic field gradient waveforms. The use of multiple encoding waveforms degrades the temporal resolution of the measurement, or may distort the results depending on the methodology used to derive physiological parameters from the measured data. The disclosed Direct Inversion Reconstruction Method (DiR) provides distortion-free velocity images with high temporal resolution, without changing the method of acquiring the phase data. The disclosed method provides a more stable and accurate recovery of phase-based dynamic magnetic resonance signals with higher temporal resolution than current state-of-the-art methods.

    Abstract: A method for transmitting broadcast service data in a single frequency network including a Radio Network Controller and one or more base stations each with a cell including one or more sectors, the method includes: transmitting, by the Radio Network Controller, broadcast service data and a first transmission time to the base station; and transmitting, by the base station, the broadcast service data to each of its sector after the first transmission time, where the broadcast service data is transmitted to adjacent sectors sharing a common station address at different transmission times. Also, the present invention discloses a system and base station for transmitting broadcast service data in a single frequency network. With this technical solution, the phenomenon of fast fading of received signals in the prior art which occurs at adjacent edge zones of adjacent sectors in the same cell of the single frequency network can be avoided, and thus improving performance of receiving the signals.

By applying the method and the apparatus provided by the present invention, the terminal locating can be achieved with low cost, low implementation complexity, and high precision for location only by using a simple algorithm.

    Abstract: A cine imaging filter and method of use that includes a denoising image-filter based on the Karhunen-Loeve transform along the temporal direction to take advantage of the high temporal correlation among images. The cine imaging filter may further include the application of a simple formula describing the quantitative noise reduction capabilities of the KLT filter as a function of eigenimage cutoff. Additionally, the filter may validate its accuracy in numerical simulation and in in-vivo real time cine images. Furthermore, exemplary embodiments of the cine imaging filter may employ a technique to automatically select the optimal eigenimage cutoff to maximize noise reduction with minimal effect on image information.

    Abstract: A hybrid filtering method called Karhunen Loeve Transform-Wavelet (KW) filtering is presented to de-noise dynamic cardiac magnetic resonance images that simultaneously takes advantage of the intrinsic spatial and temporal redundancies of real-time cardiac cine. This filtering technique combines a temporal Karhunen-Loeve transform (KLT) and spatial adaptive wavelet filtering. KW filtering has four steps. The first is applying the KLT along the temporal direction, generating a series of “eigenimages”. The second is applying Marcenko-Pastur (MP) law to identify and discard the noise-only eigenimages. The third applying a 2-D spatial wavelet filter with adaptive threshold to each eigenimage to define the wavelet filter strength for each of the eigenimages based on the noise variance and standard deviation of the signal. Lastly, the inverse KLT is applied to the filtered eigenimages to generate a new series of cine images with reduced image noise.

    Abstract: A porous medium exploitation method having application to petroleum exploitation is disclosed using coupling between a reservoir model and a near-wellbore model for modelling fluid flows. Fluid flows within the medium are simulated using a reservoir simulator and a near-wellbore simulator. At each time step, the boundary conditions used by the second simulator are calculated by means of with the reservoir simulator. Numerical productivity indices used by the reservoir simulator are calculated by means of using the near-wellbore simulator. The fluid flows within the porous medium during a given period of time are modelled by repeating the previous stages for several time steps. An optimum medium exploitation scenario is deduced determined from this modelling by taking into accounting for, for example, a well damage due to a drilling fluid, an injection of a polymer solution or of an acid solution in the well.

A global objective function measuring the differences between the measured historical data and the simulated historical data is defined according to M parameters. The global objective function is then decomposed into a sum of k local objective functions. Each local objective function measures the differences on a geographic region from mk parameters, selected from among the M parameters, and having a significant impact on the historical data of the region. The region is determined by minimizing this number mk of parameters. The model is then modified by minimizing the global objective function by a gradient method wherein the derivatives of the local objective functions are estimated by means of a parameter perturbation technique.
