  • Patent number: 6347889
Abstract: An adapter with a 3.5&phgr; plug end and a toslink socket end for receiving a toslink-type plug carrying an optical fiber cable. The socket includes a bore, and a square counter bore defined by four straight sidewalls of equal length and height. Each straight sidewall includes a longitudinal channel sized to slidably receive one of two opposed longitudinal ridges of the toslink plug, and a transverse slot in communication with the respective channel and sized to receive one of two resilient transverse ribs of the toslink plug. The adapter can receive the toslink plug in four different positions by turning the plug 90° about its longitudinal axis prior to its insertion in the adapter.

  • Patent number: 6203211
Abstract: The invention relates to a connector for a fiber optic cable. The connector has at least three clamps which respectively clamp the outer and the inner cover and also the filament of the fiber optic cable. Due to the engagement with the outer cover, the inner cover and the filament of the fiber optic cable, the connector of the invention is able to secure the alignment of two different filaments when connection therebetween is necessary.

  • Patent number: 5725890
Abstract: A mechanism for forming a distal face of a fiber-optic core uses a motor to drive a lifter which has an upper protrusion and a lower protrusion. A first seat having a fiber-optic core-securing clamp provided thereon and a second seat having a heater are forced to move upward and downward, respectively, by the upper protrusion and the lower protrusion until the heater and core engage a mirror plate with a plurality of recesses provided therein. By virtue of moving the first seat and the second seat with the lifter, the heater heats the mirror plate and, after the first seat descends and engages the core with the mirror plate, a distal face of the fiber-optic core is formed as a male equivalent of the recesses of the mirror plate.
