  • Publication number: 20220159576
Abstract: Systems, methods, devices, computer readable media, and other various embodiments are described for location management processes in wearable electronic devices. Performance of such devices is improved with reduced time to first fix of location operations in conjunction with low-power operations. In one embodiment, low-power circuitry manages high-speed circuitry and location circuitry to provide location assistance data from the high-speed circuitry to the low-power circuitry automatically on initiation of location fix operations as the high-speed circuitry and location circuitry are booted from low-power states. In some embodiments, the high-speed circuitry is returned to a low-power state prior to completion of a location fix and after capture of content associated with initiation of the location fix. In some embodiments, high-speed circuitry is booted after completion of a location fix to update location data associated with content.

  • Publication number: 20220150198
Abstract: A computer system receives user selection of an avatar story template. User-specific parameters relating to the user are determined and real-time data, based at least in part on the user-specific parameters, is retrieved. Specific media or digital assets are obtained based on at least one of the real-time data and the user-specific parameters. An avatar story is then generated by combining the avatar story template and the specific media or digital assets. The avatar story is then displayed on a display of a computing device.

  • Publication number: 20220113814
Abstract: Systems, devices, media, and methods are presented for using a handheld device such as a ring to manipulate a virtual object being displayed by a wearable device such as eyewear. The path of the virtual object in motion is substantially linked, in time and space, to the course traveled by a hand holding the handheld device. The methods in some implementations include presenting the virtual object on a display at a first location relative to a three-dimensional coordinate system, collecting motion data from an inertial measurement unit on the handheld device, displaying the virtual object at a second location along a path based on the motion data. In some implementations the eyewear includes a projector located and configured to project the display onto a lens assembly.

  • Publication number: 20220096921
Abstract: Context-sensitive remote controls for use with electronic devices (e.g., eyewear device). The electronic device is configured to perform activities (e.g., email, painting, navigation, gaming). The context-sensitive remote control includes a display having a display area, a display driver coupled to the display, and a transceiver. The remote control additionally includes memory that stores controller layout configurations for display in the display area of the display by the display driver. A processor in the context-sensitive remote control is configured to establish, via the transceiver, communication with an electronic device, detect an activity currently being performed by the electronic device, select one of the controller layout configurations responsive to the detected activity, and present, via the display driver, the selected controller layout configuration in the display area of the display.

  • Publication number: 20220104136
Abstract: The technical problem of reducing power consumption of paired client devices is addressed by using respective location data of paired client devices to determine whether to disable or to resume operation of short range wireless communication component, such as, e.g., a Bluetooth® sensor. In some examples, the location services utilize global positioning system (GPS). Respective location data of paired client devices is communicated between the paired client devices via a messaging server.

  • Publication number: 20220082867
Abstract: Eyewear having a light array and vibration sensors for indicating to a user the direction and distance of an object relative to the eyewear to help a user understand and avoid objects. To compensate for partial blindness, the front portion of the eyewear frame may include the light array, where one or more lights of the light array is illuminated to indicate a corresponding direction of a proximate object. The relative brightness of the one or more lights indicates how close the object is, where brighter light(s) indicates a close object. To compensate for more severe partial blindness or complete blindness, the eyewear has haptics, such as a plurality of vibration devices on the front portion of the eyewear, such as in the bridge, which selectively vibrate to indicate a direction of the object. The stronger the vibration, the closer the object.

  • Publication number: 20220070126
Abstract: An example co-location connection service is described. The online co-location connection service is provided by a messaging system configured to selectively pair user profiles associated with respective client devices equipped with sensors that communicate with each other within the predetermined physical range. The messaging system monitors physical proximity of the client devices based on the sensor data obtained by the co-location connection service from the respective messaging clients executing at the respective client devices. In response to detecting that the client devices are within a predetermined physical proximity range the messaging system generates co-location experience by modifying the user interface in the respective messaging clients.
