  • Patent number: 8738081
Abstract: A communication apparatus is provided. A first subscriber identity card camps on a first cell belonging to a first wireless network via a radio transceiver module and stores first contact entries each having a destination address. A second subscriber identity card camps on a second cell belonging to a second wireless network via the radio transceiver module and stores second contact entries each having a destination address. A processor receives an apparatus originated communication request with a destination address, determines whether the received destination address is currently stored in one of the first contact entries of the first subscriber identity card or one of the second contact entries of the second subscriber identity card, and transmits the apparatus originated communication request to the cell that the determined subscriber identity card camps on to establish a wireless communication with a peer device associated with the received destination address.

  • Publication number: 20130316699
Abstract: A method of applying a network forbidden list for enhanced service recovery in mobile communication networks is provided. In a first embodiment, upon receiving an error cause for a RAT in a selected network, a UE stores a PLMN ID, the RAT information, and the error cause as an entry in the forbidden list. The UE will not select to the RAT of the network stored in the forbidden list until the PLMN/RAT entry is removed from the forbidden list. In a second embodiment, upon receiving an error cause in a selected network, a UE stores a PLMN ID, the error cause, and a timer value as an entry in the forbidden list. The UE will not select to the network stored in the forbidden list until the timer associated with the PLMN ID is expired.

  • Publication number: 20130308513
Abstract: Methods for enhanced UE data transmission for power consumption optimization are disclosed. A UE detects UE conditions and determines a UE traffic characteristic. The UE performs power consumption optimization based on the traffic characteristic. In one novel aspect, based on the UE condition, the UE determines that the traffic characteristic is low priority traffic or mobile originated only traffic. In one embodiment, the UE aligns prescheduled low priority data transmission with mobility management messages, or group multiple low priority prescheduled data transmission together. In another embodiment, the UE reduces NAS retry process upon detecting application triggered low priority traffic. In another embodiment, the UE turns off RF module until next data transmission for MO only traffic. In another novel aspect, the UE detects and sends UE conditions to the network. The network determines a UE traffic characteristic and performs power consumption optimization accordingly.

  • Patent number: 8213989
Abstract: A method for transmitting mobile originated requests by a mobile station with a first subscriber identity card and a second subscriber identity card, executed by a processor, is provided. It is determined whether a preference setting has been enabled. A preferred subscriber identity card is obtained from the first subscriber identity card and the second subscriber identity card when the preference setting has been enabled. The mobile originated request is issued to a called party via the preferred subscriber identity card when the preference setting has been enabled.

  • Patent number: 8185093
Abstract: A communication apparatus is provided. A first subscriber identity card is with a first address and camps on a first cell. A second subscriber identity card is with a second address and camps on a second cell. A processor determines whether a first communication status of the first subscriber identity card reaches a first limitation, determines whether a second communication status of the second subscriber identity card reaches a second limitation, and determines whether to activate a service instructing the first wireless network to transfer a first apparatus terminated communication request of the first subscriber identity card to the second subscriber identity card according to determination results for the first communication status and the second communication status, wherein the first apparatus terminated communication request is initiated from a peer communication entity to request for establishing wireless communication with the first subscriber identity card.

  • Publication number: 20120100843
Abstract: A method for handling packet-switched data transmissions by a mobile station with a first subscriber identity card coupled to a first radio frequency (RF) module and a second subscriber identity card coupled to a second RF module, executed by an adapter of the mobile station, is provided. An uplink Internet protocol (IP) packet is received. Information regarding at least one of the received packet and hardware status of the mobile station is collected. One subscriber identity card is determined from the first and second subscriber identity cards according to the collected information. The received packet is transmitted to an IP network via the RF module corresponding to the determined subscriber identity card.
