  • Patent number: 11159607
Abstract: In an approach to managing a load balancer cluster, one or more computer processors receive a packet comprising a source IP address of the packet. The one or more computer processors determine whether there is a record comprising the source IP address of the packet either in the load balancer or in the assistant. The one or more computer processors, responsive to determining there is no such record in the load balancer and there is the record in the assistant, obtain the record from the assistant, the record also comprising information of a first server in a server cluster and the first server being referred to as a destination server for any packet from the source IP address. The one or more computer processors send the packet to the first server.

  • Patent number: 11038705
Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a processing circuit and logic integrated with and/or executable by the processing circuit. The logic is configured to cause the processing circuit to handle Internet Group Membership Protocol (IGMP) messages received from other devices in a network. Also, the logic is configured to cause the processing circuit to create a general query solicit (GQS) message configured to solicit a general query (GQ) from a multicast snooping querier coupled with the apparatus. The GQS message causes the multicast snooping querier to send out a general query (GQ) message on all ports in response to receiving the GQS message. The GQ message is configured to solicit port information and group membership information from each IGMP switch in the network. Other systems, methods, and computer program products are described in more embodiments.

  • Patent number: 10735250
Abstract: A load balancer system having multiple load balancer machines working in parallel. At any given time, one of the load balancer machines is assigned to act as the current distributor that distributes web client communications and/or requests to the other load balancer machines in the load balancer system. However, these web client communications and/or requests are directed to a distributor module on all of the active, parallel load balancer machines in the system (for example, by the expedient of a common virtual IP address for layer 3/4 communications) in case the currently active distributor fails and one of the other active load balancer machines suddenly needs to take on the distributor role. In this way, web client communications are not lost when the current distributor machine fails.

  • Patent number: 10361971
Abstract: An approach is provided in which an information handling system establishes a resource reservation protocol (RSVP) session corresponding to a flow between a first entity and a second entity operating within a computer environment that implements a network virtualization overlay protocol. Once the RSVP session is established, the information handling system encapsulates data packets of the flow based on the network virtualization overlay protocol and, in turn, sends the encapsulated data packet over the computer network with a quality of service (QoS) assurance level that is based on the established RSVP session.
