  • Publication number: 20060170990
Abstract: An image reading apparatus reads an image from a document being simultaneously fed by the apparatus. A document feeder unit feeds the document on a original plate. A first image reading unit reads an image from the fed document at a first document-read position on the original plate. A second image reading unit reads an image from the fed document at a second document-read position located at a predetermined distance from the first document-read position in a document feeding direction. An abnormal pixel detection unit detects abnormal pixels resulting from rubbish moved between the first document-read position and second document-read position on the original plate together with the document.

  • Patent number: 7000915
Abstract: A sheet conveying apparatus has a conveyor for conveying a sheet to a prescribed position, a pair of reverse-discharge rotating members capable of rotating forward and reverse for feeding the sheet to the conveyor by switchback and an electricity removal unit for removing electricity from the conveyed sheet. The switchback serves to feed a sheet having a maximum conveyable length from the pair of reverse-discharge rotating members to the conveyor and the electricity removal unit is arranged downstream in a sheet discharging direction from a cross over position fro a front edge of the sheet and a back edge of the sheet during discharge of the sheet, and at a downstream side to the sheet discharging direction the pair of reverse-discharge rotating members again.

  • Patent number: 6957037
Abstract: This present invention provides an image reading apparatus aiming at improving its operability while saving the cost and an image forming apparatus provided with the same. Sponges for pressing a pressing plate against a platen glass are constituted of nine sponges. Then, restoration forces Fa to Fc generated when sponges on a front side of a document feeding apparatus far from a fulcrum shaft of a hinge unit are crushed are set smaller than restoration forces Fg to Fi generated when sponges on a deep side of the document feeding apparatus near the fulcrum shaft 45 of the hinge unit are crushed.
