  • Patent number: 7158671
Abstract: The color reproduction performance of image input/output devices has been improved greatly and even very slight changes in color ascribable to a color balance correction are recognizable. As a consequence, there are cases where a specific color shift, such as a color shift in the yellow or blue direction, gives a disagreeable sensation when applied with regard to a slight color change in the color of the human skin, which is a memory color. Accordingly, highlight and shadow points are detected based upon the histogram of an image, color information of the highlight and shadow points is revised by adjusting average color difference information based upon a hue angle acquired from average color difference information of image data having luminance levels of the highlight and shadow points, and the image is corrected based upon the revised color information of the highlight and shadow points.

  • Patent number: 7154843
Abstract: A stamper and optical disk. A photoresist is applied to a substrate and this photoresist is exposed, developed and then transferred to form a disk master which has a recess/protrusion pattern formed on its one side. The one side of the disk master is etched to narrow the width of a protruding part constituting the recess/protrusion pattern, and the recess/protrusion pattern of the disk master with the reduced width of the protruding part is transferred to form a stamper. The recess/protrusion pattern provided on the stamper is transferred to form a predetermined pattern on a substrate of an optical disk.

  • Publication number: 20060187231
Abstract: When printing image data obtained by an input device, the present invention is intended to effectively utilize the color reproduction area of the printer. An image data processing method of the present invention comprises the steps of scale-down shifting a first color space point outside a maximum color reproduction area of an output unit to a second color space point within the maximum color reproduction area of the output unit; computing an amount of shift by which the first color space point is shifted to the second color space point; converting the second color space point to a third color space point within a color reproduction area smaller than the maximum color reproduction area of the output unit; and outputting an image to the output unit using image data obtained by scale-up shifting the third color space point to a fourth color space point within the maximum color reproduction area of the output unit based on the computed shift amount.

  • Patent number: 7006668
Abstract: On the basis of a discrimination parameter for discriminating more detailed brightness in an image, the brightness of the image is discriminated, and the optimum degree of correction component is set for the image, thereby performing a more faithful reproduction of the image indicated by image data. Therefore, a highlight point being a brightness value associated with a cumulative frequency of reaching a predetermined value is calculated in a high-brightness area on the basis of a histogram obtained with respect to the number of pixels of a brightness value indicated by the image data, and the image is discriminated in its entire brightness on the basis of the highlight point. On the other hand, a ratio of the cumulative frequency in a predetermined low-brightness area to the number of all the pixels in the histogram is calculated. On the basis of the calculated ratio and the discriminated brightness, a gamma value indicating degree of correction the brightness value to a value of more light image is defined.

  • Patent number: 6793308
Abstract: An ink-jet recording apparatus and an ink-jet recording method which provide an image featuring reduced graininess and good gradation. A plurality of inks of different densities are used to obtain a halftone image with controlled graininess. An ink which has low penetrability on a recording medium and which controls the diffusion of dots is used as an ink with a relatively high density. An ink which has high penetrability and which permits easy diffusion of dots is used as an ink with a relatively low density. The present invention also provides a characteristic recorded article to be formed by a plurality of dots having different penetrabilities on a recording medium. Among a plurality of inks with different densities, the inks of the same color category are grouped and held in an ink container and are divided in the container by the ink density. This configuration makes it possible to make the containers smaller and minimize the number of containers.
