  • Publication number: 20190297662
Abstract: Coordination of RRC configurations between an LTE NB and an NR NB in dual connectivity with a UE are performed using an RRC container that includes shared or coordinated parameters. For example, an NR NB determines to alter a configuration of a UE. The NR NB transmits a coordinated RRC container with coordinated UE parameters to an LTE NB and transmits a UE parameter RRC container to the LTE NB. The LTE NB evaluates the coordinated container for compliance with the UE capability. If satisfied, the LTE NB can send both containers (in a single RRC message or multiple RRC messages) to the UE.

  • Publication number: 20190268947
Abstract: Systems and methods of selecting a PRACH resource opportunity are described. One of multiple Synchronization Signal Blocks (SSBs) is received. Each SSB has PSSs, SSSs and a PBCH that contain system information. A RACH occasion (RO) is selected from among multiple ROs associated with the SSB. A PRACH is transmitted on resources of the RO. The ROs are configured in a TDM and/or FDM manner. The RO is selected randomly or, if TDM is used, an earliest of the ROs from a UE-initiated RACH transmission in a previous period. A preamble of the RO is selected randomly with equal probability.

  • Publication number: 20190246310
Abstract: Systems and methods of providing feedback when a specific PDU is successfully delivered or transmitted are described. The node hosting PDCP entity indicates triggering of a DDDS frame from the remote corresponding node. Rather than immediately triggering transmission of a DDDS frame, the node hosting PDCP entity indicates triggering based on successful delivery of a PDU having a specific SN, as long as in-sequence delivery or transmission of PDUs up to the specific SN was successful. The DDDS frame is transmitted once the corresponding node determines that the PDU having the SN was successfully delivered or transmitted. After reporting by the DDDS frame, the QoS flow associated with the PDUs is remapped from a source DRB to a target DRB.

  • Patent number: 10375680
Abstract: Technology for dual connectivity is disclosed. A user equipment (UE) can identify a first physical channel that includes a first uplink control information (UCI) and a second physical channel that includes a second UCI. The UE can select a priority level for the first physical channel and a priority level for the second physical channel. The UE can apply power scaling to a first physical channel transmission or a second physical channel transmission if a total transmit power of the UE would exceed a specific value during a period of time. The UE can scale a transmit power for the second physical channel if the priority level for the first physical channel is higher than the priority level for the second physical channel depending on a type of first UCI and a type of second UCI.

  • Publication number: 20190215907
Abstract: Techniques, apparatus and methods are disclosed that enable non-adaptive Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) retransmission using SPS resources. Non-adaptive HARQ retransmission can be enabled in a configured Uplink (UL) resource (such as SPS resources). As it may not be beneficial to allow non-adaptive HARQ retransmission on SPS resources for all kinds of traffic, options for proper configuration can be provided either by network signaling or by predefined configurations.

  • Publication number: 20190182896
Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may, if a regular buffer status report (BSR) is triggered and a logical channel scheduling request (SR) delay timer is not running, and if available uplink shared channel (UL-SCH) data resources do not meet one or more logical channel prioritization (LCP) mapping restrictions configured for a logical channel of uplink data: trigger a scheduling request to request UL-SCH data resources for a new transmission of uplink data. Currently pending SRs and BSRs may not be cancelled after assembly of a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU), but may be cancelled at a later time when a MAC PDU including a BSR is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 10271224
Abstract: An eNodeB (eNB) and user equipment (UE) are provided that detect whether the UE is in coverage enhancement mode and if so uses a modified version of the Radio Link Control (RLC) configuration in communications between the eNB and UE. Detection mechanisms may differ between the eNB and UE and may include direct signaling between the eNB and UE, the ability to receive control signaling only through particular modified signaling procedures, low power of certain received control signals or lack of response to certain control signals within various predetermined time periods. The modified RLC configuration permits a smaller amount of data than a standard RLC configuration to be transmitted by a transmitting device before a receiving device is able to be polled for information regarding reception by the receiving device of the transmitted data.

  • Patent number: 10271252
Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) device operates to directly determine a target small cell for access or handover with the assistance of a macro cell network. The UE directly generates the connection and selects which small cell to access from among a subset of small cells chosen of a set of candidate small cells. The UE is provided dedicated assistance information from the evolved node B (eNB) or macro network device. The dedicated assistance information enables the UE to measure data from the candidate small cells within a heterogeneous network environment. The UE shares the measured data and connects directly to the selected small cell for an access or handover operation.

  • Publication number: 20190116518
Abstract: Systems and methods of segregating a SDF of a PDU session are described. The UE transmits a NAS message to the network. The NAS message indicates the SDF, the desired QoS, and a segregation indication that requests that the network establish a separate QoS flow for the SDF even if an existing QoS flow is able to support the specific QoS. The SMF decides whether or not to establish the separate QoS flow and updates filters in the UPF as well as providing a response to the UE containing a similar indication. The UE modifies resources related to the PDU session based on the response. The QoS is indicated as a 5QI and GBR or as a QFI of an existing QoS Flow on which the SDF is to be added if the separate QoS is not established. The QFI is in an unencrypted SDAP header of the NAS message.

  • Patent number: 10257849
Abstract: A device, method and system of handling in-device coexistence (IDC) interference in a wireless network, may comprise detecting the IDC interference between a first communication module operating over a first protocol and a second communication module operating over a second protocol; generating an IDC indication having a bit string comprising four bits, wherein the four bits correspond to a subframe pattern comprising four subframes, a value of a bit of the bit string indicates whether an enhanced node B (eNB) is requested to abstain from using a subframe of the four subframes of the subframe pattern; and transmit the IDC indication to the eNB via a wireless network.

  • Patent number: 10244443
Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, user equipment receives unicast services from a first carrier of a primary serving cell and determines if Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast services (MBMS) services are available on a second carrier based at least in part on information in a broadcast carrier channel that indicates the second carrier or an identification (ID) of the second carrier. If MBMS services are available on the second carrier, the user equipment at least temporarily switches to the second carrier to receive the MBMS services. The user equipment may provide feedback to the network or the primary serving cell when it starts and stops receiving MBMS services, and then may switch back to the primary serving cell when MBMS services have ended or the user equipment no longer desires to receive MBMS services.

  • Publication number: 20190089425
Abstract: Embodiments have a master eNB with a control plane and optional data plane to user equipment and a secondary eNB with a data plane to the user equipment. The user equipment thus uses both the master eNB and the secondary eNB for data communications while receiving control information from only the master eNB. The master eNB and secondary eNB are connected with an X2 interface. When the secondary eNB desires to refresh its security key, it informs the master eNB using the X2 interface. The master eNB then uses its control plane with the user equipment to initiate a security key refresh for the secondary eNB.
