  • Patent number: 9713049
Abstract: Embodiments of UE and methods for measurement of Reference Signal Received Quality (RSRQ) are generally described herein. The UE may be configured to determine an RSRQ of a serving cell and an RSRQ of a target cell based on an indicated RSRQ measurement type. The measurement type may be received as part of a measurement configuration Information Element (IE) that indicates a first or second RSRQ measurement type. For the first RSRQ measurement type, the RSRQ may be determined based on a Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) over common reference signals (CRS). For the second RSRQ measurement type, the RSRQ may be determined based on an RSSI that is based on a received power of one or more Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbols received at the UE.

  • Publication number: 20170171764
Abstract: An eNodeB (eNB) and user equipment (UE) are provided that detect whether the UE is in coverage enhancement mode and if so uses a modified version of the Radio Link Control (RLC) configuration in communications between the eNB and UE. Detection mechanisms may differ between the eNB and UE and may include direct signaling between the eNB and UE, the ability to receive control signaling only through particular modified signaling procedures, low power of certain received control signals or lack of response to certain control signals within various predetermined time periods. The modified RLC configuration permits a smaller amount of data than a standard RLC configuration to be transmitted by a transmitting device before a receiving device is able to be polled for information regarding reception by the receiving device of the transmitted data.

  • Publication number: 20170086106
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe methods, systems, and devices for facilitating transfer of user equipment (UE) handover in multi-cell networks. A source evolved node B (eNB) may transmit an autonomous handover grant to a UE along with an indication of a target eNB. The source eNB may also make a handover request to the target eNB and provide a UE context to the target eNB. Upon transmission of a handover command, the UE may perform a random access channel procedure to connect to the target eNB. Because the eNB may have the UE context (or may be able to fetch the context), the handover time may be lessened. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Patent number: 9572077
Abstract: Embodiments of system, device, and method configurations for managing inter-radio access technology (inter-RAT) mobility of handovers between a UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN) or GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) and an evolved UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) to avoid scenarios of in-device coexistence (IDC) interference are disclosed herein. In one example, the existence and types of IDC interference with an E-UTRAN Long Term Evolution (LTE)/Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) network are determined and communicated to the UTRAN/GERAN in an IDC indication signal. The IDC indication signal may communicate the existence and type of IDC interference occurring at user equipment, such as between licensed LTE/LTE-A and unlicensed industrial scientific medical (ISM) radio frequency bands. Accordingly, the UTRAN/GERAN may use information provided from the IDC indication signal to prevent a handover to the E-UTRAN that would result in IDC interference.

  • Patent number: 9565000
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for transmitting and receiving information. A User Equipment (UE) identifies first information for a cyclic shift value, transmitted from a Node B. The UE identifies second information for the cyclic shift value, transmitted from the Node B. The UE obtains a sequence based on a Zadoff-Chu sequence and the cyclic shift value defined based on the first information and the second information. The UE transmits the sequence in a Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) symbol to the Node B. The SC-FDMA symbol is predefined among a plurality of SC-FDMA symbols in a slot of a subframe.
