  • Patent number: 7328009
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for mobile communication utilizing load balancing. When a home agent (HA) consists of one or more servers with each server being assigned a Mobile IPv6 Home-Agents Anycast Address, a nearby router does not store the link-layer addresses with respect to the Anycast addresses of the servers in its neighbor cache. Consequently, load balancing between or among the servers could not be performed. To solve this problem, in one example, an HA is provided that comprises a representative HA and distributed HAs. The representative HA is assigned an Anycast Address. The representative HA includes a collecting device configured to collect HA lists and load information from the distributed HAs. The representative HA dynamically creates a HA list and sends the HA list to a mobile node (MN). The MN registers its current location with an HA from the HA list included in a Home Agent Address Discovery Reply message. The load on the HA can then be shared by the servers constituting the HA.

  • Publication number: 20070237159
Abstract: A user's home is connected to a plurality of service providers by a plurality of VPNs, and traffic sent and received by a home terminal is filtered to an appropriate VPN so as to avoid communication disturbance due to IP address duplication by reducing unnecessary traffic. A terminal sends terminal information to inquire a management server about a SIP URI of VPN based on the terminal information sent by the terminal as well as user information. The management server notifies a router about the SIP URI of VPN corresponding to the notified information. The router establishes the VPN based on the notified SIP URI. The router maintains a mapping between the established VPN and a source terminal of a UPnP message, and then transfers traffic sent and received by each terminal after VPN establishment.

  • Publication number: 20070081512
Abstract: By assigning a fixed home address to an MN, Mobile IPv6 assures the arrival of each content at the MN 1. In order to allow the user to receive a Mobile IPv6 service, it is necessary to provide the MN 1 with a Mobile IPv6 function for making applications conform to IPv6. However, there are only few such MNs 1. In addition, the MN 1 does not have a function for implementing an IPsec process repeatedly on a packet transmitted to and received from another apparatus. A scenario processing port 23 employed in the MN 1 includes a means, which is used for selecting a process according to a communication method and carrying out the selected process when a response to a Mobile IPv6 location registration message is received. By providing the scenario processing port 23 with a means for selecting a communication method, a function can be added to the MN 1 with ease.

  • Patent number: 7162529
Abstract: Since the Mobile IP is defined under the assumption that a mobile node roams between networks conforming to the same communications protocols, mobile communications between IPv4 and IPv6 are not possible. Further, a translation of the location registration messages also requires translating the format between different protocol layers. To solve this problem, a mobile proxy apparatus 2 is provided between a home network 1a and a foreign network 1b governed by different communications protocols. The mobile proxy apparatus 2 has a DNS-ALG function, a translator function and a Mobile IP function, and, by combining these functions, performs address translation and format translation on Mobile IP messages and user packets. The MN4 has Mobile IPv4 and Mobile IPv6 functions and executes communication suitable for the communications protocol governing the network to which it moves.

  • Patent number: 7143187
Abstract: The present invention relates to a mobile packet communication apparatus for supplying a terminating service to a mobile terminal and a packet communication control method employed for the communication network. In the case of the conventional techniques, an original side home gateway node cannot identify a path to a destination gateway node from the original IP packet header. It is thus impossible to supply any terminating service to a dynamic IP address mobile terminal. Under such circumstances, the present invention uses a dynamic DNS and a mobile terminal is provided with a dynamic DNS client function. When an IP address is allocated to a mobile terminal, therefore, the mobile terminal sends a DNS update message to the target subscriber node. The message includes a dynamically allocated IP address. Receiving the DNS update message, the subscriber node adds the home gateway node identifier (network identifier) of the mobile terminal to the message parameters to be sent to the dynamic DNS.

  • Publication number: 20060227780
Abstract: A translator includes a unit for communication with a DNS-ALG. The DNS-ALG detects a DNS query to a destination terminal, and performs once translation to IPv6. The DNS-ALG translates a destination temporary IPv6 address, in which a real address of IPv4 acquired from a DNS server of the destination terminal is added with a virtual IPv6 prefix, to a destination temporary IPv4. The IPv6-based DNS-ALG cooperates with the translator to permit alleviation of processing load on the DNS-ALG and reduction in capacity of a translation table of large capacity. A technique is disclosed which, with the above construction, can permit mutual connection among a plurality of VPN's without exchanging the existing VPN's.

  • Publication number: 20060176907
Abstract: Mobile IPv6 guarantees reachability of a MN by giving the home address (HoA) to the MN. A Mobile-IPv6-compliant application of the MN performs communication without using a Care of Address (CoA), and therefore does not notify the CoA to other communication equipment. For this reason, a PDSN can provide QoS control using HoA of the MN, but cannot provide QoS control using the address (CoA) of a visited network of the MN. A QoS control function of the PDSN has means of acquiring Binding information of the MN (correspondence information between HoA and CoA), and notifying it to a PDF. The PDF transmits QoS parameters that contain the CoA of the MN to the PDSN by referring to the Binding information. By this configuration, it becomes possible for the PDSN to perform QoS control using the CoA of the MN.

  • Publication number: 20060018273
Abstract: Since, in Mobile IP, the correspondence of one Mobile Node home address and a care-of address is assumed to be one to one, it is not possible to associate multiple care-of addresses with one home addresses, select an appropriate care-of address from among these and dynamically modify the forwarding destination. In the invention, the binding update sent by the Mobile Node to the Home Agent is extended in order to make it possible to also report the application ID at the same time. The Home Agent selects an appropriate care-of address, based on the application ID.

  • Patent number: 6973076
Abstract: An IPv6 mobile packet communication network in which mobile VPN service can be provided without having to use a mobile tunnel. A control signal for enabling packet data transmission and reception is sent from a mobile terminal to a gateway node. Using destination-of-connection information contained in the control signal, the gateway node checks whether mobile VPN service is requested or not. Upon detection of a mobile VPN service request, the gateway node returns IP address information of the gateway node to the mobile terminal via a subscriber node. The mobile terminal then assembles an IPv6 header (210) and an IPv6 routing header (220) so that packet data will be unexceptionally transferred through the gateway node.
