    Abstract: A management system manages a plurality of logical volumes in a storage system coupled to a host system. The plurality of logical volumes includes a first logical volume provided to the host system and a second logical volume. The management system manages the second logical volume as a duplicate of the first logical volume and a first state volume which is provided to the host system. The management system changes the second logical volume to a second state volume associated with the first logical volume, which is not a logical volume provided to the host system and which is on standby for a future use by the host system. The management system manages a data difference between data stored in the second logical volume and data stored in the first logical volume associated with the second logical volume if data is newly stored in the first logical volume.
