  • Patent number: 4707756
Abstract: Disclosed is a perpendicular magnetic recording medium wherein an underlayer made of a material containing Si and/or Ge as its principal ingredient is deposited on a substrate, and a perpendicular magnetic film made of a Co-based alloy is deposited on the underlayer. With the perpendicular magnetic recording medium, the perpendicular magnetic film has an enhanced degree of C-axis orientation, and the bond strength between the perpendicular magnetic film and the substrate is also enhanced when the substrate is non-metallic.

  • Patent number: 4702370
Abstract: An electronic components series comprises a carrier tape and a plurality of recess formed in the carrier tape at equal intervals in the longitudinal direction thereof. An electronic component to be held on the carrier tape comprises a main body and leads or terminals protruding from the main body. Each recess on the carrier tape is shaped so as to be able to store both the above-mentioned main body and leads or terminals. Accordingly, the whole of the electronic component is stored in the recess. A covering tape is bonded to the carrier tape, and accordingly the recess is sealed by the covering tape and the electronic component is held in the recess.

  • Patent number: 4597307
Abstract: A foot-operated device for controlling a parking brake wherein a parking brake pedal is locked in its operated position through engagement of a pawl member with ratchet teeth. The pawl member is pivotally connected to the brake pedal, and the ratchet teeth are formed on a bracket fixed to a vehicle frame. The parking brake is released when a pedal pad pivotally connected to the brake pedal is pivoted on the pedal and the pedal is depressed. The pedal pad has an extension arm protruding toward the pawl member which is biased by a spring device in a first direction to cause the pawl member to engage the ratchet teeth while the pedal pad is placed in its original position. The extension arm directly engages the spring device to change the biasing direction thereof from the first direction to a second direction so that the pawl disengages from the ratchet teeth when the pedal pad is pivoted to its operated position.

  • Patent number: 4518890
Abstract: An impregnated cathode comprises a porous refractory substrate of refractory material such as tungsten containing at least one of scandium oxide particles and oxide particles containing scandium such as (Al, Sc).sub.2 O.sub.3, and an electron emissive material impregnated into pores of the substrate, and has an operating temperature lower by about 300.degree. C. than that of the conventional impregnated cathode containing no scandium oxide particles, or scandium.

  • Patent number: 4484883
Abstract: A multi-layer extrusion die wherein a temperature control mechanism for heating or cooling an inner layer resin is provided inside an inner layer resin flow path, and resins flowing through respective resin flow paths are each heated to a suitable temperature so as to eliminate possibilities of occurrence of burning of the resin and the like.

  • Patent number: 4400648
Abstract: An impregnated cathode having a complex porous body of one-body construction which is mounted in a metal sleeve and in which a partition layer made of a porous material having a porosity less than 17% is arranged in close contact with an impregnated layer made of a porous material containing an electron emissive material. The aforementioned porous partition layer takes the place of the conventional partition plate of refractory metal. The impregnated cathode according to the present invention can not only have its size reduced without any difficulty but also enjoy a high emission current density with a remarkably small dispersion.

  • Patent number: 4291252
Abstract: An electron tube cathode has a composite suppression layer structure interposed between the base metal and the electron-emitting material to suppress an interface layer formed through the reaction of the base metal with the electron emissive material. The composite layer structure includes a thin layer of Pt or Re and a layer of oxide of Zr and/or Hf. As a result, the formation of the interface layer is prevented so that the useful life of the electron tube cathode is prolonged.

  • Patent number: 4260665
Abstract: An electron tube cathode in such a structure comprising a Ni-W-Zr alloy (W content: 20-28 wt. %) having a grain size of 4-10 .mu.m as a base metal, a 1,000-2,000 A-thick Pt film provided on the surface of the base metal, and an electron emitting material layer consisting of alkaline earth metal oxide provided on the Pt film has less emission lowering and less peeling of the electron emitting material layer, even if placed in a long time service. The electron tube cathode can be produced according to a method comprising (i) a step of annealing a base metal of Ni-W-Zr alloy (W content: 20-28 wt. %) at 1,000.degree.-1,200.degree. C., (ii) a step of providing a 1,000-2,000 A thick Pt film on the surface of the base metal, and (iii) a step of providing an electron emitting material layer consisting of alkaline earth metal oxide on the Pt film.

  • Patent number: 3932314
Abstract: An electron emissive material of the formula (Y.sub.1.sub.-x EU.sub.x)B.sub.6 having the calcium hexaboride type crystal structure can easily produce hexaborides of the single phase. These borides have a number of merits such as small work function, high mechanical properties and low vapor pressure, and they are far more excellent than prior-art materials when used in a thermionic emission cathode and a field emission type cold cathode.
