  • Patent number: 6241179
Abstract: A wall is provided on one side of a web of paper or the like traveling along a predefined path, and an airstream is produced between the wall and the traveling web approximately in the direction of web travel. A transverse static pressure gradient is established across the airstream, causing the stream to flow close to the wall surface. This phenomenon is called as the Coanda effect. A partial vacuum created in the airstream causes the web to deflect from its normal path and to be drawn to the wall surface under sufficient pressure to be kept from fluttering. This method of web flutter control is applied to the splicing of webs, as from one roll to another in a web-fed rotary printing press. The web being unwound from the old roll has been susceptible to fluttering while being spliced to the new roll, such web fluttering being eliminable by providing a wall member along the web path and producing an airstream between the web and the wall member.

  • Patent number: 6227831
Abstract: An inclined surface is formed in an upper inside wall of housing. The inclined surface inclines downwardly toward a lip seal. Lubricant oil supplied to the upper end of the inclined surface flows along the inclined surface without dropping downwardly due to surface tension, and flows to the lower end of the inclined surface then reaches the lip seal. Thus, the lubricant oil is supplied to the lip seal with certainty, thereby suppressing the wear of the lip seal and improving the durability of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 5994008
Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition for forming a fluorescent film for a display and a method of forming a fluorescent film for forming a display surface of a display unit. The composition for forming a fluorescent film for a display has an aqueous medium in which photosensitive resin having a styryl pyridium photosensitive group having an internal salt structure and a fluorescent material which easily reacts with acid are dispersed. The composition is applied to the display surface of a display unit so that a fluorescent layer is formed. Then, the fluorescent material layer is developed to form the fluorescent material layer into a predetermined pattern, and then the fluorescent material layer formed into the predetermined pattern is baked so that a fluorescent film is formed.

  • Patent number: 5864632
Abstract: A map editing device capable of easily supplementing insufficient information and easily re-measuring an object that has changed. An image, a perspective projection map, a projection center and a projection angle are displayed in superposition. When a user manually changes the projection center and the projection angle, a perspective projection map after this change is generated and displayed. When a perspective projection map capable of obtaining insufficient information is determined, an imaging condition capable of obtaining the insufficient information can be determined based on the projection center and the projection angle at that time. The insufficient information can be easily supplemented if the arrangement is so made as to acquire images conforming with the imaging condition. The condition necessary for re-measurement can be determined.

  • Patent number: 5847658
Abstract: The object of this invention is to produce a monitor which can correctly distinguish normal from abnormal vibration using automatically selected monitoring features and algorithms. The monitor can be used with a variety of devices with different vibration characteristics. The monitor according to this invention has a sensor that detects the vibration of an object. The monitor is operated in learning mode when the object is vibrating normally. The waveform of the vibration detected by this sensor is sampled over an appropriate period and analyzed. The data for each sampling feature are subjected to statistical processing, and the data which evince slight change are extracted as monitoring features. A monitoring algorithm is automatically made for these monitoring features. The algorithm selected in learning mode are used to evaluate the vibration of an object when the monitor is in operating mode.

  • Patent number: 5789856
Abstract: A field emission type fluorescent display device capable of carrying out luminous display with increased reliability at an anode voltage 200V to 1000V and providing a desired luminous color by means of a filter. The fluorescent display device includes a luminous display section consisting of three display elements. The display elements include filters of red, green and blue colors on which light-permeable anode conductors are deposited, respectively. Then, the anode conductors have phosphors of the same colors as the filters deposited thereon, respectively. The blue phosphor is made of ZnO:Zn substantially containing a blue color component. Thus, a combination of the blue filter and phosphor provides light of a blue color with increased efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5600203
Abstract: An airtight envelope for an FED capable of ensuring formation of a gap or internal space therein with high accuracy and preventing leakage thereof and a decrease in display area. An anode substrate having a phosphor-deposited display pattern formed thereon and a cathode substrate having an electron emission source formed thereon are sealed joined to each other using a sealing material, to thereby provide an airtight envelope for an FED. The substrates are provided at a portion thereof joined together with particulate or bar-like elements which are kept unmelted or substantially unsoftened. Also, spacers are arranged at positions in a gap between the anode substrate and the cathode substrate which do not interfere with a display by the FED.

  • Patent number: 5536466
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a transparent conductive film wiring board capable of being practiced according to a dry procedure to simplify the manufacturing and reduce the manufacturing costs. First, a SiO.sub.2 layer is provided on a substrate and then a black ITO film is formed on the SiO.sub.2 layer. The black ITO film is subject to processing using laser emitted from an output horn, resulting in being cut into a predetermined wiring pattern. Metal evaporated by laser processing is sucked by a vacuum suction head. Then, the substrate is subject to calcination to oxidize and crystallize the black ITO film 3 of the wiring pattern to form a transparent ITO film of the wiring pattern.

  • Patent number: 5385499
Abstract: A method of making an envelope for a display device is capable of permitting positioning and fixing of glass beads acting as spacers to be carried out with high precision and increased strength, respectively. Liquid for forming photoadhesive photosensitive film is applied to a substrate. The substrate is exposed to light through a mask to cause portions of the film on which glass beads are to be fixed to exhibit adhesion. Glass beads coated with glass frit of a low softening point are applied to the substrate and unnecessary glass beads other than those applied to the above-described portions of the film are removed. Subsequently, a casing is arranged on the substrate and calcination is carried out. This results in the photosensitive film volatilizing and the glass beads being adhered to both a flat plate and the substrate.
