  • Patent number: 8272798
Abstract: In a printer which prints on a roll paper transported toward a discharge port and cuts the roll paper, an exchangeable lower cover is attached to the printer. The exchangeable lower cover defines a lower edge of the discharge port. A change of height of the discharge port is allowed by exchanging the exchangeable lower cover for another one. Hereby, it is possible to change specifications between one for holding a printed slip and the other for allowing the printed slip to fall freely. In the former specification, a brush provided at a periphery of an upper edge of the discharge port is in contact with a lower cover. On the other hand, in the latter specification, the brush is in distant from another lower cover.

  • Patent number: 7753308
Abstract: A roll paper is received in a receiving area so as to have a horizontal rolling axis. In the vicinity of a lowest part of the receiving area, an inclined surface faces the receiving area. At a position being lower than the inclined surface, a rotation making member is placed to face the receiving area. In such arrangement, the inclined surface makes the roll paper be slid towards the lowest part of the receiving area when the inclined surface receives the roll paper that is out of the receiving area. In response to movement of the roll paper towards the lowest part of the receiving area, the rotation making member rotates the roll paper around the horizontal rolling axis towards a winding direction of the roll paper.

  • Patent number: 7607847
Abstract: In a printer including a base frame, an upper frame rotatably coupled to the base frame, and a platen and a platen pulley both rotatably supported by the upper frame, a subframe is attached to the upper frame rotatably and movably in one direction. A reduction gear and a belt pulley both are rotatably supported by the subframe. A drive gear is rotatably supported by the base frame and engaged with the reduction gear. A drive belt is stretched between the platen pulley and the belt pulley. A spring is attached between the upper frame and the subframe. The base frame has a guiding portion concentric with the drive gear. The subframe has a guided portion opposite the guiding portion. The spring applies tension to the drive belt and brings the guided portion into contact with the guiding portion.

  • Patent number: 7547153
Abstract: A movable blade unit is fixed to a cutter release lever. The cutter release lever is attached to an upper frame by a cutter supporting point shaft so as to freely oscillate. A latch lever holding the upper frame at a closed position and a cutter lock lever locking the cutter release lever are integrated, and are coupled by an opening and closing lever. If the opening and closing lever is pushed down, the cutter lock lever cancels the lock of the cutter release lever while keeping a state in which the latch lever latches the upper frame. Accordingly, in the movable blade unit, a driving force transmission path between the movable blade unit and a cutter driving motor is disconnected, and a movable blade is returned to a home position by a return spring.

  • Publication number: 20090031534
Abstract: In order to cope with a change in design between a printer having a hip down design specification (first specification) and another printer having a hip up design specification (second specification), each of a lower frame and an upper frame has a structure common to both of the specifications. The lower frame and the upper frame are coupled to each other by a hinge structure removably attached to the lower frame and the upper frame. The hinge structure is selected from a first hinge structure and a second hinge structure. By changing the hinge structure from the first hinge structure to the second hinge structure and vice versa, the height of a hinge center can easily be changed.

  • Publication number: 20070065217
Abstract: A plurality of ribs are provided on a cut paper discharge guide and an upper cover which define a discharge port for discharging a cut paper. The ribs hold a cut paper in width direction. Even if a cut paper having a high degree of curl is supplied when a roll diameter of a roll paper is reduced, it is possible to prevent a paper jam such as falling or clogging of the cut paper. It is desirable that the ribs provided on the cut paper discharge guide and the upper cover are disposed in an alternate pattern along the width direction of the discharge port. This arrangement is particularly effective in a printer having an inclined paper passage.
