    Abstract: A streaming content management apparatus and method for recording and replaying video and audio data using a real time video indexing function are provided. A streaming content management apparatus of a multimedia broadcast receiver includes a recording unit for recording an incoming content stream in units of segment together with indexes and a player for replaying the content stream recorded by the recording unit in response to an index that is input to request playback from a segment corresponding to the input index. The streaming content management apparatus divides the streaming content incoming through a broadcast channel in units of segment and stores segments of the streaming content with storage index and chapter information such that it is possible to quickly retrieve a playback position using the storage index or chapter information.

    Abstract: A radio-over-fiber (RoF) system and method for controlling a transmission time is provided. In a Time Division Duplex (TDD) wireless communication system comprising a Base Station (BS) having a donor and a remote connected thereto via am optical fiber, upstream and downstream Radio Frequency (RF) signals are transmitted and received, and by reliably transmitting a switch control signal to the remote and simultaneously compensating for a transmission time delay occurring in the optical cable, time synchronization of the upstream and downstream RF signals transmitted and received via antennas of the BS and the remote is controlled, thereby efficiently increasing the performance of a TDD wireless service system.

    Abstract: A wavelength-division multiplexed self-healing passive optical network is capable of detecting cut-off and deterioration of feeder fiber and distribution fiber and restoring a network with a star structure. The network includes a central office, a remote node, and a plurality of subscriber units. Working and protection feeder fibers connect the central office to the remote node. A reflection unit at an end of the remote node connects to the central office for reflecting a monitoring optical signal transmitted from the central office. An output monitor stage at an end of the central office connects to the remote node for detecting the reflected monitoring optical signal and generating a control signal based on the presence of abnormality of the working and protection feeder fibers.

The ONT includes a first switching unit, a level transformer converting two level Ethernet signals into a three level data signals, a first code generator generating a specific CDMA codes that distinguish the ONT from another ONT, and a first multiplier performing a spread spectrum function with the CDMA codes. The OLT includes an optical receiver, a branching filter branching the upstream CDMA signals, a plurality of second code generators generating codes for despread, a plurality of second multipliers multiplying the received signals by the despread codes, and a plurality of data decider extracting data through correlation calculation.

The receiver includes a converter for converting a burst mode signal into a voltage signal and an automatic gain controller for automatically controlling a gain of the converter. The bottom level detection device detects a bottom level of an output signal from the converter and controls the automatic gain controller on the basis of the detected bottom level. The bottom level detection device includes an amplification circuit for receiving the output signal from the converter at its first input terminal and a fed-back output signal from the device at its second input terminal, respectively, and amplifying a difference between the received signals, a detector for detecting a bottom level of an output signal from the amplification circuit, and an output buffer.
