    Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and computer-accessible storage media for remotely updating an executing process that receives I/O requests on I/O port(s), stores write data to a write log on local storage, and uploads data from the write log to remote storage. An update for the process is detected and downloaded, and an updated process is instantiated from the update. The current process is directed to perform a shutdown for update during an update window. In response, the current process saves its current configuration, flushes an in-memory portion of the write log to local storage, and releases its I/O port(s). The updated process loads the saved configuration, detects that the port(s) have been released, and starts accepting I/O requests on the ports. During flushing, the current process flushes current data in memory while continuing to append new write data, stops accepting new write requests, and then flushes the new write data.

A slot coupling segment of slot antenna is configured at one end of the slot antenna and neighbored with the coplanar feeding line so as to make the slot antenna couple with the coplanar feeding line, and a switch device of the slot antenna is configured at one portion which between one part of the slot antenna and a grounding plane formed by the metal plane. When the switch device is triggered to configure a radiating feature of the slot antenna, the antenna array is able to achieve the purpose of setting beamforming direction.

    Abstract: A synthetic peptide that targets cancer stem cells is provided. The peptide consists of the amino acid sequence of anyone of SEQ ID NO: 1 to SEQ ID NO: 15. Also provided is a composition comprising said synthetic peptide with a therapeutic agent fused thereto, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent. Further provided is a method of screening a peptide specifically targeting to a cancer stem cell. The method comprises the steps of establishing an oligopeptide library by using a phage expression system, contacting the library with a culture of bulk tumor cells of a cancer cell line, contacting the phages which do not bind to the bulk tumor cells with a culture of cancer stem cells of said cancer cell line, and screening a peptide specifically targeting to a cancer stem cell from the phages which bind to the cancer stem cells.

    Abstract: The disclosed embodiments disclose techniques for using byte-range locks to manage multiple concurrent accesses to a file in a distributed filesystem. Two or more cloud controllers collectively manage distributed filesystem data that is stored in the cloud storage systems; the cloud controllers ensure data consistency for the stored data, and each cloud controller caches portions of the distributed filesystem. During operation, a cloud controller receives from a first client a request to access a portion of the file. The cloud controller contacts the owning cloud controller for the portion of the file to request a byte-range lock for that portion of the file. The owning cloud controller returns a byte-range lock to the requesting cloud controller if no other clients of the distributed filesystem are currently locking the requested portion of the file with conflicting accesses.
