    Abstract: A dimensioning apparatus for generating a dimensional drawing from a model includes an element database with predetermined element names. A plurality of model elements can be associated with corresponding element names. The apparatus also includes a model sectioning tool operable to section the model to thereby generate at least a portion of the model elements. The apparatus further includes a dimensioning tool with a plurality of predetermined dimension names and a plurality of dimensioning algorithms associated with corresponding dimension names. At least two of the model elements are utilized by each of the dimensioning algorithms to thereby automatically detect dimension values of the model. The dimensioning tool is further operable to associate the detected dimension values with corresponding ones of the dimension names. In addition, the dimensioning apparatus includes a plotting tool operable to output the dimensional drawing showing the dimension values of the model detected by the dimensioning tool.

In another aspect of the present invention, the system includes a configuration subsystem adaptive to receive vehicle data and at least one workstation template and operative to configure the workstation template for the vehicle. Additionally, the system provides a data store for storing ergonomic design rules that govern a design of a manufacturing workstation. The system further includes an evaluation subsystem adaptive to receive the ergonomic design rules in data communication with the configuration subsystem.

A design engine adaptively renders a vehicle space based on a vehicle package, and, in response to user input defining a required change in a target spatial dimension, alters the target spatial dimension according to the required change, and alters one or more potentially altered spatial dimensions based on alteration of the target spatial dimension. A user interface communicates potentially altered spatial dimensions to the user, including indicating them as potentially altered according to alteration of the target spatial dimension.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method for evaluating a surface quality of a simulated stamping which includes the steps of obtaining a CAD model of a desired part, calculate and display at least one image of true reflect line on the CAD model, obtaining a blank mesh representative of the part before the part is formed, and processing the blank mesh with a springback simulation software to obtain a deformed finite element analysis springback blank. True reflect lines are then calculated and displayed on the deformed FEA springback blank, and the reflect lines are compared with the true reflect lines on the CAD model to determine variance of the deformed springback blank with the CAD model.
