  • Publication number: 20070096885
Abstract: A short-range inter-vehicle communication and warning apparatus comprises a forward radar and a backward radar. The apparatus uses the radars to generate Frequency Modulation/Continuous Wave (FMCW) signals, uses amplitude shift keying for data modulation and arranges a special packet format, to realize such a low cost and fast response device of collision avoidance for vehicles. The invention has the dual capabilities of detecting and communicating simultaneously. It can also measure the relative speed of a preceding/rear vehicles and the relative inter-vehicle distance. The invention also exchanges the real-time traffic information with the preceding/rear vehicles at the same time. It is applicable to a one-to-one or one-to-many inter-vehicle channel model.

  • Publication number: 20070036125
Abstract: A wireless communication system using channel access based on a contention approach and method thereof is disclosed, which allocates plural sets of time slots in a predetermined contention interval, wherein each set of time slots further includes plural adjacent overlapped time slots. A channel requester transmits a contention message to a channel allocator at a time slot based on an interleaved method after the channel requester completes count down of a predetermined time, so that the positions of the headers of the contention messages in the adjacent time slots of each set of time slot are different. Thus, if the contention message transmitted by the channel requester collides with the contention message of the adjacent time slot, the channel allocator can parse the headers of the collided contention messages and respectively allocate plural special channel times for communicating with the channel requesters.

  • Publication number: 20070036234
Abstract: The invention relates to an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system with PN-sequence. In the synchronization of the invention, both timing offset and frequency offset are estimated and compensated by utilizing a time and frequency synchronization device. In addition, the PN-sequence with the cyclic prefix is added to the OFDM symbol before transmitting. The time and frequency synchronization device of the invention comprises two synchronization circuits from the cyclic prefix and PN-sequence when calculating the timing offset and frequency offset of receiving signal. As a result, the OFDM system of the invention not only has better performance in fading channel, but also has the better bandwidth utilization without extra bandwidth for transmitting the PN-sequence.

  • Publication number: 20060092934
Abstract: A protocol processing engine system, which is arranged between a host side and a media access control (MAC) layer to thus speed up data transmission. The system includes a host interface, a network media access control (MAC) interface, a receiving subsystem and a transmitting subsystem. The system uses the host interface to interface with the host side and the network MAC interface to interface with the network MAC layer. The receiving subsystem classifies a connection received from the network MAC layer into a priority connection, fast connection or slow connection based on a pre-stored information, and activates its respective hardware circuit based on the connection classified in order to speed up data transmission of the connection. The transmitting subsystem transmits a connection received from the host interface to the network MAC interface.

  • Patent number: 6901106
Abstract: A code tracking system and method especially for use in direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) communication systems employs multiple timing references within a chip by tracking the multiple timing references relative to the exact midpoint of the chip, then adjusting the timing references to the exact midpoint of the chip, and outputting an error tracking signal in accordance with the minimum error associated with the multiple timing references. The system performs effective code tracking with low lock-loss rate even when the noise of a receiving path interferes with detection of some of the timing references. The system uses multiple delay-locked loops for the different timing references.

  • Patent number: 6775318
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for code group identification and frame synchronization for cell searching used in wide-band DS-CDMA cellular systems. This method characterizes each secondary synchronization code sequence (SSCS) with a corresponding theoretical frequency sequence, which represents the occurrence times of CS1 to CS16 in a corresponding SSCS. Thus, 64 secondary synchronization code sequences corresponding to 64 code groups defined in DS-CDMA systems also corresponds to 64 theoretical frequency sequences. By characterizing the SSCS transmitted by a base station, a real frequency sequence can be generated. Comparing the real frequency sequence with the 64 theoretical frequency sequences, one can determine one or two candidate code groups, which may be employed by the base station.
