  • Publication number: 20160104314
Abstract: A two-dimensional image obtained by capturing a scene including an object is obtained. Parameters indicating capturing position and capturing orientation of the two-dimensional image are obtained. A three-dimensional shape model representing a three-dimensional shape of the object is obtained. Two-dimensional geometrical features of the object are extracted from the two-dimensional image. Three-dimensional information with respect to a surface of the object close to each of the two-dimensional geometrical features is calculated from the three-dimensional shape model. Three-dimensional geometrical features in the three-dimensional shape model, corresponding to the two-dimensional geometrical features are calculated based on the two-dimensional geometrical features, the parameters, and the calculated three-dimensional information.

  • Patent number: 8971576
Abstract: An information processing apparatus acquires a plurality of geometric features and normals at the respective geometric features from a target object arranged at the first position. The information processing apparatus also acquires a plurality of normals corresponding to the respective geometric features of the target object from a shape model for the target object that is arranged at the second position different from the first position. The information processing apparatus calculates direction differences between the acquired normals for respective pairs of corresponding geometric features of the target object and shape model. The information processing apparatus determines whether or not occlusion occurs at each geometric feature by comparing the calculated direction differences with each other.

  • Publication number: 20130335751
Abstract: A region projected with pattern light in an image sensed by an image sensing unit which senses an image of a target object projected with pattern light is specified. Geometric features of the target object are searched for from a region other than the region projected with the pattern light in the sensed image based on the specified region. A position and orientation of the target object are derived based on the searched geometric features of the target object and geometric features of a model of the target object.

  • Publication number: 20120268567
Abstract: A three-dimensional measurement apparatus selects points corresponding to geometric features of a three-dimensional shape model of a target object, projects a plurality of selected points corresponding to the geometric features onto a range image based on approximate values indicating the position and orientation of the target object and imaging parameters at the time of imaging of the range image, searches regions of predetermined ranges respectively from the plurality of projected points for geometric features on the range image which correspond to the geometric features of the three-dimensional shape model, and associates these geometric features with each other. The apparatus then calculates the position and orientation of the target object using differences of distances on a three-dimensional space between the geometric features of the three-dimensional shape model and those on the range image, which are associated with each other.
