    Abstract: A drive circuit is provided for a semiconductor optical amplifier type gate switch includes a first transmission path and a second transmission path. The first transmission path includes a common first sub-path between a signal source and a first node; and an individual second sub-path for each of a plurality of operational amplifiers between the first node and a corresponding one of the operational amplifiers. The second transmission path includes an individual third sub-path between each of the operational amplifiers and a second node; and a common fourth sub-path between the second node and the semiconductor optical amplifier type gate switches. Transmission delay times of all the individual second sub-paths are equal, and transmission delay times of all the individual third sub-paths are equal.

    Abstract: An optical network system is disclosed by which flexible wavelength path setting can be performed in accordance with tree-shaped and star-shaped network topology. A central node includes a multiplexing section for multiplexing optical signals transmitted from user nodes and inputted thereto, and a central node side branching section for branching the optical signal multiplexed by the multiplexing section and supplying the branched optical signals to the user nodes. Each of the user nodes includes a transmission section capable of outputting an optical signal to which transmission wavelengths different from those of the other user nodes are set, and a reception section for extracting selected optical wavelength components from the branched light supplied thereto from the central node side branching section and extracting optical signals from the extracted optical wavelength components.

An operation circuit generates information for designating a control signal needed to enable the optical tunable filter to extract signal light with a designated wavelength, based on the detected results of two segments of signal light located at each edge of a wavelength band obtained by shifting the wavelength transmission characteristic of the optical tunable filter from outside the wavelength band including all segments of the entire WDM signal. A driving circuit generates a control signal according to the designation information.
