  • Publication number: 20060221432
Abstract: An optical switch which minimizes losses in the power of output light while enabling deflection of light within a range of comparatively large deflection angles used for setting switching among output ports. The optical switch is configured to have a first light deflection element deflecting the input light at an angle appropriate to a position of an designated port with an applied first drive voltage; and a second light deflection element finely adjusting a deflection angle of the light output from the first deflection element to the designated port with an applied second drive voltage such that power of light output from the designated port becomes maximum.

  • Publication number: 20050271314
Abstract: A drop-type AOTF is used as a configuration for removing from a through signal an optical signal having the same wavelength as that of an optical signal to be added. To the drop-type AOTF, RF signals are input to always select all of wavelengths, and an RF signal is not input for a wavelength desired to be rejected. As a result, the optical signal having the wavelength for which the RF signal is stopped is not selected by the drop-type AOTF, and cannot pass through. Since there is only one RF signal whose input is stopped, a “drawing effect” does not occur, and control of an optical add/drop device is simplified. Additionally, since high-speed switching can be made, and a wavelength to be added can be varied, restrictions are not imposed on a network configuration.

  • Publication number: 20050169633
Abstract: An optical transmission device improved in quality and reliability of OADM function and permitting configuration of highly-flexible, economical OADM networks. A wavelength tunable filter variably selects a wavelength according to a control frequency. A filter controller applies the control frequency to the filter while scanning wavelength over an entire signal bandwidth, to detect, from a reference wavelength monitor signal supplied thereto, a reference control frequency which permits the filter to select a reference wavelength and according to which wavelength is matched. On receiving a wavelength selection request, the controller obtains a target control frequency from the reference control frequency and the position of a target wavelength relative to the reference wavelength, and applies the obtained frequency to the filter. A reference wavelength filter transmits the reference wavelength therethrough. A light-receiving element monitors the transmitted reference wavelength to generate the monitor signal.

  • Patent number: 6895141
Abstract: In the control method for the optical filter according to the present invention, WDM signal light obtained by wavelength division multiplexing a plurality of optical signals having different wavelengths is supplied to an optical filter to obtain output WDM signal light including a part of the plurality of optical signals. The output WDM signal light is converted into an electrical signal per wavelength channel of the output WDM signal light. Then, the optical filter is controlled according to the electrical signal so that the characteristic of the optical filter becomes stable.

  • Publication number: 20040197099
Abstract: A wavelength stabilizing filter has a wavelength transmission characteristic curve that has its peak in a wavelength located between a first continuous set band and a second continuous set band longer in wavelength than the first set band, and that linearly drops from the peak toward the shorter wavelength side than the first set band and also toward the longer wavelength side longer than the second set band. A control unit generates a control signal needed to enable an optical tunable filter to extract signal light with a predetermined wavelength from an inputted WDM signal, based on light transmitted through the wavelength stabilizing filter.

  • Publication number: 20040179840
Abstract: Signal light with a specific wavelength is transmitted and extracted from signal light multiplexed by a WDM method, and a light detection unit detects the signal light detected by an optical tunable filter, whose wavelength transmission characteristic varies depending on a control signal. An operation circuit generates information for designating a control signal needed to enable the optical tunable filter to extract signal light with a designated wavelength, based on the detected results of two segments of signal light located at each edge of a wavelength band obtained by shifting the wavelength transmission characteristic of the optical tunable filter from outside the wavelength band including all segments of the entire WDM signal. A driving circuit generates a control signal according to the designation information.

  • Patent number: 6782017
Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a wavelength locker which has a wider locking range than that of the wavelength locker in the prior art and which can cope with a plurality of wavelengths. The aforementioned objects are achieved by a wavelength locker, which comprises a periodic filter, a detecting part for detecting the intensity of a laser beam through the periodic filter, and a controlling part for controlling the wavelength of the laser beam to a desired wavelength in accordance with the output of the detecting part. In this wavelength locker, the FSR of the periodical filter is controlled according to space between the wavelengths, and refers to the number of wavelength to be locked, so that the characteristics corresponding to output wavelengths that vary in every period twice the space of wavelengths and are complementary to each other, can be obtained, and the locking range will become wider.
