  • Patent number: 8116414
Abstract: An orthogonal signal from a modulated signal of the digital terrestrial broadcast is produced. Then, an adder carrier-combines the orthogonal signal and an interpolated signal into an interpolated orthogonal signal, which is in turn demodulated by a DQPSK demodulation section. A demodulated signal is produced from a modulated signal of the digital satellite broadcast. A transmission path coding section produces transport stream data. A DQPSK mapping section re-demodulates the transport stream data to produce an orthogonal signal. A sync detection section asynchronously detects a demodulated signal demodulated by the DQPSK demodulation section and a demodulated signal produced by a time deinterleave section in the transmission path coding section. The detected time difference is set as a delay time of a delay circuit so as to delay the orthogonal signal, thereby producing the interpolated signal to be carrier-combined by the adder in order to provide improved reception quality.

  • Patent number: 7149480
Abstract: A receiver device for receiving incoming radio waves by using a plurality of antennas, which is capable of improving the maximum input sensitivity is provided. In the receiver device, a switching unit switches to an antenna having the lower antenna gain as a new receiving antenna on the precondition that when receiving incoming radio waves by one particular antenna currently set as the receiving antenna, if a reception level of this particular antenna becomes a level close to the maximum input sensitivity of a signal processing unit, then the reception condition is satisfactory. Consequently, it is possible to improve the maximum input sensitivity and forestall the occurrence of waveform distortion and the like.

  • Publication number: 20050181755
Abstract: In a receiver, a plurality of antennas receive a signal, a reception signal output unit selects the signal received by one or more of the antenna or a combination of the signals received by one or more of the antenna based on a condition, and a signal processing unit processes the selected signals. The receiver also includes a parameter acquiring unit that acquires a plurality of parameters including at least one parameter concerning the received signal, and a controlling unit that determines whether to change the condition based on the parameter concerning the received signal and that changes the condition based on the determination.

  • Publication number: 20050113048
Abstract: Two of set antennas are selected by a selecting unit, and transmission signals output from the two antennas are demodulated individually and combined. Moreover, quality levels of the transmission signals output from the antennas are detected by a detecting unit. When the quality level of the transmission signal output from at least either one of the antennas is lower than a predetermined level, a control unit selects two antennas from among the three or more antennas based on the quality levels of the transmission signals output from the antennas. Consequently, when the quality level of the transmission signal output from a selected antenna falls below the predetermined level, optimum antennas can be selected based on the detected quality levels of the transmission signals with an improvement to the reception quality. Thus, a receiver which selects optimum antennas while minimizing the number of times of antenna switching can be provided.

  • Patent number: 6836561
Abstract: A defect detection method and system which can provide a precise determination of whether an object is acceptable without being affected by the position of placement and the rotational orientation of the object. An arc circumscribing the tip of modules of a sprocket is determined. Then, each overlapping region is extracted which is formed by an overlapping portion between an inner portion of a region defined by the arc and the cut-away portion of the sprocket. The area of each overlapping region is determined and compared with each other. In accordance with a determination of whether each area difference falls within the predetermined range of criteria &egr;, it is determined whether a chipped portion exists on the tip of module. If there is a chipped portion on the tip of module, two or more overlapping regions are integrated with each other to form a larger overlapping region, thereby making it possible to determine easily and positively the presence of a chipped portion on the tip of module.

  • Publication number: 20040002304
Abstract: When a user carries out an input operation to set a program, the system controller (12) sets the program in response to a signal sent from an input section in response to the input operation. To which of the ensemble A and ensemble B the set program belongs is determined. A surface wave from the earth station or satellite waves from the two artificial satellites are processed according to the necessity according to the ensemble A or B determined by the RF tuner section (13), and are demodulated by the channel decoder (14) to fetch the ensembles A or B and other ensemble B or A for de-interleaving. The different ensembles A or B are simultaneously subjected to the process for de-interleaving, so that the time required for transmitting a program included in other ensembles A and B can be shortened.

  • Patent number: 6101488
Abstract: An intelligent information retrieval program generation system can easily generate an intelligent information retrieval program that is applicable to a wide-area information network such as the Internet. When questions to be used as criteria for determining conclusions, answer alternatives to the questions, and information of conclusions are inputted, a table defining unit defines a conclusion determining table which comprises answer alternatives to each of the questions and conclusions. A knowledge establishing unit displays the conclusion determining table on a display screen, receives inputted answer conditions for the conclusions to be selected, and establishes the answer conditions in the conclusion determining table. A retrieval program generator generates an intelligent information retrieval program for decoding the conclusion determining table in which the knowledge has been established, displaying questions, receiving answers to the questions, and determining conclusions depending on the answers.
