  • Publication number: 20050156549
Abstract: A controller for a brushless motor that suppresses torque reduction resulting from the influence of motor inductance and suppresses the generation of invalid current. A phase advancing angle calculator calculates a delay angle of phases of phase currents with respect to the phases of the phase voltage command and a phase advancing angle corresponding to the delay angle based on the function of the angular velocity and the motor inductance (and armature winding resistance) of the brushless motor. An adder adds the phase advancing angle to the rotation angle provided from the rotation angle calculator to generate the corrected rotation angle. The adder further provides the corrected rotation angle to a two-phase/three-phase converter.

  • Publication number: 20050159866
Abstract: A first system and a second system include a first motor and a second motor for driving a steering mechanism in dependence on the rotational manipulation of a steering wheel. A first ECU and a second ECU mutually monitor abnormalities of the systems each to stop an abnormal system. When the respective systems are normal, the first ECU and the second ECU drivingly control the first motor and the second motor of their own systems to drive the steering mechanism by cooperation of the respective motors. When either one of the both systems is abnormal, the ECU of the other system solely drivingly controls the motor of its own system thereby to drive the steering mechanism. Thus, it can be realized to make the systems low in cost irrespective of the provision of the plural systems.

  • Publication number: 20050035780
Abstract: A driver circuit 10 comprising a driver unit 30 and a driver control unit 20 for controlling a driver by comparing present data of an input signal with previous data, wherein the driver unit 30 includes a plurality of parallel drivers, and the driver control unit 20 compares the present data of the input signal with data one cycle back and, if they are not identical, causes the plurality of parallel drivers to operate, thereby increasing the driving power of the driver. The driver control unit 20 further compares the present data with data two cycles back and, if they are identical, can reduce the factor by which to increase the driving power by not causing a selected one or ones of the plurality of parallel drivers to operate.

  • Patent number: 6718242
Abstract: A vehicular steering device of the present invention aims at suppressing heat generation. If a voltage is applied to a solenoid, a drive force is generated in a lock arm. If the drive force exceeds an urging force of a torsion coil spring, an electric motor is released and assumes an unlocked state. Accordingly, the drive force that is required for the maintenance of the electric motor in the unlocked state can be smaller than the drive force that is required for switching the electric motor from a locked state to the unlocked state. Thus, after the electric motor has been released in the unlocked state, a voltage is intermittently applied to the solenoid so that the electric motor is held in the unlocked state. In this manner, heat generation from the solenoid is suppressed.

  • Patent number: 6708106
Abstract: A calculator for calculating an opened amount of a throttle valve with high accuracy regardless of voltage fluctuation and noise. The calculator includes a valve sensor for detecting the opened amount of the throttle valve to generate a detection voltage. A memory stores an initial zero point detection value. A calculation circuit obtains the difference between the detection voltage and the initial zero point detection value and calculates the opened amount of the throttle valve with the difference. When a plurality of detection voltages that are less than the initial zero point detection value are generated, the calculation circuit calculates a new zero point detection value that is greater than a smallest one of the plurality of detection voltages by a predetermined value and updates the initial zero point detection value with the new zero point detection value.
