  • Patent number: 7347715
Abstract: A female housing (10) is mounted into a male housing (30) in a direction substantially normal to a connecting direction of the two housings (10, 30), and is inserted from this mount position toward the back side of a receptacle along the connecting direction. A moving plate (40) is assembled inside the receptacle (34), has an opening (61A) that is open toward a side from which the female housing (10) is mounted, and is formed with a guiding wall (61) for positioning the female housing (10) before the connection is started by being brought into contact with the upper surface and the opposite side surfaces of the female housing (10) reaching the mount position through the opening (61A).

  • Patent number: 7294002
Abstract: A connector device is provided with a box-shaped casing (50), a female housing (30) mounted into the casing (50) and displaceable between an initial position and an end position, and a slide (70) that is in the form of a frame having an operating portion (72) and mounted in the casing (50) for movement between a retreat position where a clearance exists between the operating portion (72) and the casing (50) and an advance position that narrows or eliminates the clearance. Before an operation of connecting both male and female housings (10, 30) is started, a protector (90) is inserted into a fitting space (91) between the operating portion (72) of the slide (70) and the casing (50). The slide (70) is held at the retreat position and the female housing (30) is held at the initial position by the protector (90).

  • Patent number: 7253638
Abstract: A female connector (F) has a housing (10) with a front end and cavities (11) extend to the front end. Terminal fittings (40) are mounted in the cavities (11). A front wall (50) is mounted on the front end of the housing (10) and is formed with tab insertion holes (51) that can communicate with cavities (11). An operable surface (59A) is exposed at an end surface of the front wall (50). The front wall (50) can be moved from a full locking position to a partial locking position along the front end of the housing (10) by pushing this operable surface (59A). Portions of the end surface of the front wall (50) other than the operable surface (59A) are covered at least partly by an wall (26) of the housing (10) to limit movement of the front wall (50).

  • Patent number: 7238064
Abstract: A male terminal fitting (1) has a rectangular tube (4). A cut is made in wall of the rectangular tube (4) to form a stabilizer (20) and produces a cut hole (22). An end edge of a closing plate (21) is arranged to face the cut hole (22) and a closing piece (23) is formed at a rear-end opening of the rectangular tube (4). The closing plate (21) and the covering piece (23) substantially prevent external matter or a leading end of another male terminal fitting (1) from intruding into the rectangular tube (4).

  • Patent number: 7229314
Abstract: A male terminal fitting (1) has a rectangular tube (4). A locking edge (15) engageable with a locking portion provided in a cavity is formed over the entire width in an outer surface of a rectangular tube (4). No opening is formed in the outer surface of the rectangular tube portion (4) by forming this locking edge (15). Closing pieces (12) are provided at positions slightly retracted inwardly of the locking edge (15). Thus, problems such as the intrusion of external matter from the outside and the deformation of a leading end portion of another male terminal fitting (1) due to the entrance into the rectangular tube (4) can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 7226323
Abstract: Chained terminals have a carrier (1) with opposite first and second side edges and terminal fittings (2) coupled to the first side edge of the carrier (1). The carrier (1) is formed with feed holes (6, 7) in correspondence with the respective terminal fittings (2). A widened portion (8) is provided along the first side edge of the carrier (1) and the feed holes (6, 7) are deviated towards the second side edge along the width direction. Thus, strength can be increased by as much as the carrier (1) is widened, and production efficiency can be increased by increasing a conveying speed.

  • Patent number: 7204728
Abstract: A stabilizer (30) of a terminal fitting (20) is divided into a front stabilizer (31A) and a rear stabilizer (31B) and defining a small clearance therebetween. Thus, the smaller holes (32A, 32B) are formed by the divided stabilizer (30), and external matter is less likely to intrude.

  • Publication number: 20070072495
Abstract: A male terminal fitting (1) is formed by bending a flat metal plate worked into a specified shape and includes a contact (2), a rectangular tube (4) formed to be wider than the contact (2), and a link (3) between the contact (2) and the rectangular tube (4). The link (3) is not connected with the front edge of the upper surface of the rectangular tube (4) over the entire width. Thus, bending resistance against an external force can be improved by increasing deflectability while holding down bending rigidity.

  • Patent number: 7189124
Abstract: A terminal fitting (T) has a tube (10) formed by at least one plate (12). A locking hole (19) is formed in the plate (12) and is engageable by a lock (52) of a connector housing (50). The plate (12) is deformed into the tube (10) adjacent the locking hole (19) to form a retaining portion (22) that enlarges an area of engagement with the lock (52) for holding the terminal fitting (T) more securely in the connector housing (50).

  • Patent number: 7175486
Abstract: A terminal fitting (T) has a rectangular tube (10) with a bottom plate (12). A resilient contact (25) extends back into the tube (10) from an end of the bottom plate (12). A base portion (33) is formed at the front end of the bottom plate (12) and is made narrower than the bottom plate (12) by cutting away the left and right edges. A bulge (34) bulges out from a lateral edge of the base portion (33) and narrows an area of an opening between the base portion (33) and the right side plate (13R). Thus, external matter is less likely to intrude into the rectangular tube (10) through the opening even if the resilient contact (25) is narrow. Additionally, the base portion (33) is reinforced by the bulge (34). Thus, the base portion (33) is less likely to be deformed by external matter.

  • Patent number: 7147522
Abstract: A stabilizer (30) is divided into a front stabilizer (31A) and a rear stabilizer (31B) with a small clearance therebetween. The front and rear stabilizers (31A, 31B) are formed from a left side plate (25) and a bottom plate (25) of a main portion (21) by cutting and bending while leaving holes (32A, 32B). The side hole (32A) is relatively larger and exposes a free end (40A) of a resilient contact (40) to the outside. Thus, a rear inner plate (36) is arranged at an inner side of the side hole (32A) to close the side hole (32A). The plastic deformation of a side of the resilient contact (40) towards the free end (40A) is prevented by preventing the intrusion of a tab (51) of a male terminal fitting (50) or other external matters through the side hole (32A).

  • Patent number: 7094101
Abstract: A terminal fitting (T) has a rectangular tube (10). A resilient locking piece (25) is accommodated in a rectangular tube portion (10) and a locking hole (19) in the tube (10) exposes the resilient locking piece (25). A side plate (13R) of the rectangular tube (10) is provided with an intrusion restricting portion (21) near the resilient contact piece (25) and in an opening area of the locking hole (19). Thus, the intrusion of an external matter through the locking hole (19) can be restricted by the intrusion restricting portion (21), thereby preventing the interference of the external matter with the resilient contact piece (25).

  • Patent number: 7094115
Abstract: A female terminal fitting (20) has an approximately tubular connection portion (22) with an open front end for receiving a tab (14) of a male terminal fitting (10). Concavities (30) extend longitudinally in the connection portion (22) at positions opposed to side surfaces of the tab (14). The concavities (30) enable the outside width (W) of the connection portion (22) to be small while securing a large clearance (C) outward from the side surfaces of the tab (14). The concavities (30) do not significantly decrease the strength of the entire connection portion (22). Additionally, the large clearance (C) avoids the need for highly accurate manufacturing.
