  • Patent number: 5935654
Abstract: A coating method and coating apparatus capable of providing a coated film of improved surface properties free from any streak and color shading and facilitating coating on a sheet of an increased width without causing enlargement of the apparatus and thus complicating its structure. A swirling motion imparting mechanism and an orifice are arranged at a connection between a liquid feed pipe and a coater. Swirling motion is imparted to coating liquid discharged from a pump and then a flow velocity of the coating liquid is immediately increased to a level as high as 200 cm/s or more, the liquid then being fed into a pocket of the coater within 0.1 second or less. This permits shearing to act on the coating liquid, to thereby effectively prevent a variation in viscosity of the coating liquid and flocculation thereof, so that the coated film may be improved in surface properties.

  • Patent number: 5861879
Abstract: An input video signal is written into alternate field memories M1 and M2, according to a timing clock from an input video clock generator. A display video signal is alternately read from those field memories, according to a timing clock from a display video clock generator. In switching a read memory, an address observation circuit judges whether or not a read/write address passes by a write/read address, referring to the condition of reading and writing operations. In this event, the circuit makes a judgement, based on the lag between a vertical synchronizing signals of an input video signal and of a display video signal, and a change of the lag with time. If it is judged that one address will pass by the other, the same read/write memory is again accessed for reading/writing. With this arrangement, there is provided a circuit having a relatively simple structure for preventing a match of read and write addresses.

  • Patent number: 5801718
Abstract: A write clock signal and a write select signal are outputted from an input video clock generator, a read clock signal and a read select signal are outputted from a display video clock generator, either of first and second field memories is selected as the write memory or the read memory in compliance with the signal level of the respective select signal and writing is carried out in the selected write memory once a predetermined time has elapsed following inversion of the write select signal. When reading has commenced from the first and second buffer memory, a match is detected between the signal levels of the write select signal and the read select signal at each field or at each frame and writing and thus reading address passing is predicted.

  • Patent number: 5745186
Abstract: A 4:4:4 component video signal comprising a luminance signal Y and color-difference signals Cb and Cr is transformed to a 4:1:1 component coded video signal coded by a coding device, reducing processing is carried out after transformation and the result is written into the frame memory based on an enable signal. At this point, the pulse number of the enable signal ENy of the reduced luminance signal is counted, the differential between the horizontal pixel number when the reduced color-difference signals are decoded to the original 4:4:4 component video signal and the horizontal pixel number of the reduced luminance signal is determined, a dummy pulse of this differential is generated and the dummy pulse portion only of the writing address of the frame memory for the reduced luminance signal is shifted backwards. Reduced signals read out from the frame memory are outputted after being decoded to the original 4:4:4 component video signal by the decoding device.

  • Patent number: 5522970
Abstract: Distilling tube apparatus for converting salt water such as sea water into fresh water is provided. The apparatus includes a first tube through which a feed stream of heated salt water is caused to flow, the first tube being constructed of a porous material which is both water-vapor permeable and liquid water impermeable, which tube allows water vapor to permeate through its walls thereof when heated salt water flows therethrough, the vapor then condensing outside of the first tube upon cooling of the vapor thereat. This first tube is preferably constructed of porous, expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. A second tube oriented in generally parallel relationship and in close proximity to the first tube is provided through which cooling water is caused to flow. The cooling water is maintained at a temperature lower than that of the heated salt water, thereby resulting in a lowering of the temperature of the surroundings of the second tube and providing an enhanced driving force for distillation of the salt water.

  • Patent number: 5458913
Abstract: In a coating method of extruding a coating liquid through a slit of an extrusion-type coating head to coat a running web, at a starting or restarting of the coating, the coating liquid is extruded through the slit of the coating head while the coating head is away from the web, and then the coating is started while a slightly large clearance is kept between the coating head and the web at the upstream side of the coating head, thereafter changing the coating state or arrangement to a steady coating state. Therefore, occurrence of a thicker portion of the coating film on the web at the start of the coating can be prevented. Further, at the end or interruption of the coating, the coating state or arrangement of the coating head is changed from the steady coating state to a state wherein a slightly large clearance is kept between the coating head and the web at the upstream side, and the coating head is moved away from the web to end the coating.

  • Patent number: 5375599
Abstract: Ultrasonic diagnostic equipment in which a probe beams ultrasonic waves into a living body under examination and detects reflected ultrasonic signals echoed or scattered therefrom. Data obtained from detected signals reflected from sounding lines of the ultrasonic emission are processed by a transmit and receive circuit or a Doppler detector to produce imaging data for M-mode display (corresponding to one radial or other line of a B-scan sweep) or for Doppler-mode display, on a video display monitor. The imaging data are written into a line memory driven by a 3 KHz clocking signal. In turn, the cycles of imaging data from the line memory are overwritten into a display memory via a clocking signal at a frequency selected by a display scrolling speed controller.

  • Patent number: 5362332
Abstract: A magnet base, having a flux density equal to that of an Fe-50%Co alloy and an input current response equal to that of an Fe--Si alloy, is used as a component of the magnetic circuit employed for a printing head of a wire dot printer, the magnetic circuit further having by-pass and armature components. The material of the magnetic base is an Fe-50% Co alloy and the base has an end face which is perpendicular to the magnetic circuit of the printing head. A layer, of a material selected from the class consisting of metals and metal alloys which function to increase the specific resistance of a magnet bases of an Fe-50% Co alloy, is formed on the end face of the magnet base and reduces eddy current loss therein, particularly at high frequency energization of the magnetic circuit, further serving to increase the input current response.

  • Patent number: 5356277
Abstract: A rotary vane compressor comprises a cylinder having two closed ends defining a cylinder chamber in which is rotatably mounted a rotor. The rotor carries a plurality of radially movable vanes which move radially into sliding contact with the inner surface of the cylinder chamber during rotation of the rotor to compress a refrigerant gas. The rotor is rotationally driven by a rotor shaft rotatably mounted by bearings in the cylinder ends. To prevent destruction of the ozone layer, a refrigerant containing no chlorine, such as HFC-134a (1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane; CH.sub.2 FCF.sub.3) is used, and to compensate for the inferior lubricating properties of the chlorine-free refrigerant, the bearings are provided with a manganese phosphate coating of 10 .mu.m-15 .mu.m thickness to prevent cohesion and seizure of the mutually contacting surfaces of the bearings and rotor shaft.

  • Patent number: 5122414
Abstract: In a magnetic recording medium comprising a magnetic layer containing a magnetic powder, 5 to 20% by weight based on the weight of the magnetic powder of a non-magnetic abrasive having a Mohs hardness of at least 6, and a binder on a non-magnetic substrate, the magnetic layer becomes more durable while maintaining electromagnetic properties by distributing the abrasive in the magnetic layer such that its concentration is highest in a surface-adjoining portion and continuously decreases therefrom toward the substrate side. The medium is prepared by applying a magnetic coating to a substrate and continuously passing the coated substrate through reversing magnetic fields prior to curing of the coating.
