  • Patent number: 5834866
Abstract: This invention provides a two-phase motor which is applicable to a field where high rotation precision is required as in an FDD spindle motor, which requires a low cost, and which can maintain stable characteristics free from magnetic balance fluctuation between the two phases due to assembly. This motor has a ferromagnetic stator having N stator salient poles and a rotor magnet having M poles. N and M are selected to be both even numbers so a relation N:M=2:2n-1 (n is a natural number) holds. The N stator salient poles are divided into first and second salient pole groups of N/2 stator salient poles on which windings are concentratedly wound. The stator salient poles belonging to the first and second salient pole groups are alternately arranged in the circumferential direction of the stator. The phases of the windings of the stator salient poles belonging to the first and second salient pole groups are sequentially opposite to each other in the circumferential direction in units of groups.

  • Patent number: 5793135
Abstract: To provide a bearing structure of a flat type brushless motor for floppy disk drive in which a stator is arranged in a plane shape and a disk acting as a rotor yoke rotates along the plane shape without the use of conventional ball bearings so that the bearing structure can be high in the rigidity, stable in the motion, and low in the cost. For having a maximum bearing length, the bearing structure comprises a support shaft arranged with its axis extending depthwisely of the motor and having two journal regions provided on both ends thereof and a recessed region thereof between the two journal regions; and a rotor shaft mounted in the center of the disk and having a cylindrical body thereof onto which the journal regions of the support shaft are rotatably fitted. Accordingly, the motor will minimize the frictional loss of the sleeve bearing and increase its operational life. Also, the steadiness (of deflection, inclination, and rigidity) in bearing action will be enhanced.

  • Patent number: 5762422
Abstract: A bearing apparatus for use in an floppy disc drive device motor having a sleeve bearing and a thrust bearing is provided which is characterized in that there is provided a thrust bearing having such a convex portion, a projection, or a concave portion that makes the rotation shaft of the motor inclined with respect to the center axis of the sleeve bearing. Therefore, the rotation shaft ofa motor can be forcibly inclined with the rotation shaft and the sleeve bearing being kept in contact with each other. In addition, it is possible to reduce deviation in inclination of the motor rotation shaft and to ensure electric conductance between the motor rotation shaft and the motor body. These advantages are attained by a specific structure in which a projection, a convex portion, or a concave portion is provided at the thrust bearing, and therefore, the structure is simple and requires low costs.

  • Patent number: 5508578
Abstract: During the assembly of a small motor, insulation is installed on the outer surface of a magnetic pole. An armature coil is wound so that the wire does not touch the corners of the magnetic pole. The wound coil does not loosen and sufficient insulation for the armature coil and magnetic pole gap can be secured when the assembly is completed. This allows as much ampere turn of the armature coil as possible to be obtained. Moreover, the thickness of the motor can be made flatter resulting in easier assembly of the flat motor's stator.
